Sure is. The 7600 is based on the 870 20ga shotgun action, with a magazine instead of the loading gate/shell lifter.

It's not that i don't like it. I have 2 featureless ar's, both work well. I'd like to have a rifle with the evil features.

Been bored the last few nights, unable to sleep because of tendonitis in my left elbow, and an ankle injury, so I made up some .223 in anticipation of getting a Remington 7615 pump. Picked up a 1000 box of SS109 FMJ projectiles, and with the 400 + sized and prepped cases I had:

Almost ready to go in my cache, along with several more full containers of other calibres. ;)

Remington 7600 in .308 Win.
Lumley Arms fore end adaptor and Magpul 870 fore end.
Lucky Thirteen extended mag release.
Genuine Remington 870 Sureshot buttstock modified to fit the 20ga receiver.
Bushnell Trophy 3 - 9X Mil-dot.

I haven't done the barrel yet, because I have some feelers out for the Police length barrel on it's own. I went with the Sureshot buttstock because it is legal in all states here, unlike the AR style (unless it is fixed length).

I like that, my next rifle is going to be a .308.
I'm thinking an AR10 platform with a butt stock
Similar to yours. I am thinking an 18" or 20" bull barral, like I have on my .223.

We just had a Judge here in California shoot down a ban on all High capacity magazines. Hopefully its one step closer to letting us buy new guns with magazine's with more than 10 rounds.

I'm planning on docking the barrel to 18" or so, but if I can find the Police barrel (16.5"), I'll use it. Personally, I prefer it at 18", less muzzle blast.

Bugger. Just realised I lost a bit of my post somehow. Sorry, Becks, I was saying that don't hold your breath getting any breaks over guns and mags in Kommi-fornia. It's heading the same way as it is here, and will only get worse. I'd like a 740 done the same way, but semi auto centrefires here are a no-no.

Fortunately it seems like we have a district judge with his head screwed on right. CA appealed the decision, but it's going to be an uphill battle for them moving forward for sure.

I was supposed to work today (Saturday) over in Baccus Marsh, re-fitting the belly covers and welding some boom cracks on a Komatsu PC1250 excavator, but it was cancelled Friday night, because they were going to use the machine instead of parking it up over the weekend. That and I would have been working on my own (again).
Instead, I got to go to the gun show near my parent's place. I was hoping to pick up a couple more 10 rd KKK mags for the 7600, plus any cheap ammo / cases I could find.
I didn't find much, but got another 100 PPU .308 150gn SPs for a reasonable price, plus some Melbourne made 303 Mk7 FMJ (50) and 7.62 NATO M80 ball (also 50) to add to my SHTF stash. I also umm-d and ah-d over a used Magpul 30rd Emag, before succumbing and buying it, after making sure I didn't need a D licence. You REALLY DON'T want to know what I paid for it, you will shit yourself, but I have a 30rd mag to try in the soon-to-be-purchased Remington 7615 (or Rem-15, as we Aussies call them here). Emags are not in Magpul's catalogue, these are the export version of the Pmag. Pmags are specifically designed for the AR platform, whereas the Emag will work in both the AR platform, plus any other brand of firearm that uses STANAG AR mags. The Pmag doesn't always work perfectly in many brands of non-AR based STANAG compatible weapons, (SCAR, Tavor, Galil, SA85 and STANAG AUG, plus civilian rifles like the Mossberg MVP, Ruger American Ranch rifle, Remington 7615, etc.) this is where the Emag fits the bill.
In case you are wondering, NEW Pmags (or ANY NEW hi-cap mag over 10 rds for that matter) are D licence ONLY and require a attorney general's permit to have them released from govt bond. USED mags can be PURCHASED with an A/B licence, but require a D licence to USE them. Go figure, huh? I have a 10rd Pmag and a Fab Defense 10rd Ulti-mag as well, these are fine to use, but 20 and 30rd mags are NO GO. I CAN get a 5rd extender for the 10rd Pmag, which is legal to use, as the absolute (legal) limit is 15rds. I can also buy a 20rd or 30rd Pmag that has had a limit spacer fitted inside and the base epoxied on to limit them to 10rds only, but that's no fun. Once the Emag has been tested and is ok, I'll aquire a few more and stash them away.
That's all for tonight. I'll take some pics when I had more time. Cheers.

Just bought a little brother (or sister?) for the 7600. I went to the same place I got good ammo deals last time I was in Sydney, but they had little ammo. However, there was a used 7615 on the rack. I eyeballed it for a moment, then left. In subsiquent TXT messages to the Handbrake, I mentioned the gun and she said buy it, if I wanted it. I said I'd think about it. After a bit of researching used prices, I went back for a closer look, and although it has some cosmetic rust damage (from being left in a bag too long) it's a well kept solid rifle, with a fixed Magpul MOE butt and grip, Mesa low adaptor and an old baby Aimpoint red dot on a Weaver rail. For the price asked, it was a really good deal, so I slapped down the cash and had it processed to send to my dealer in Vic. Once it arrives, it will gfet a good clean up, the Lumley adaptor and Magpul SGO fore end fitted and out for a test run. More later. ;)

Still waiting for my 7615. The dealer I've used for the past 6 years passed away in March from cancer, unbeknownst to me. I'd had the gun sent to him, but had to try and have it re-directed. Going to call the dealer I bought it off later and see if all is well. My fore end, mag and other parts have already arrived for it once it comes home. A local company makes a 5 rd extender for the Magpul Pmag M3 10 rd mag, which I bought one to try:

I'm waiting for emails back re: Hexmags for sale here. A local Melb shop is advertising them, but I need to find out if they are D cat, or I can buy them on my licence.
More later.

Anyone have any REAL world experience with Hexmags? Good/Bad/indifferent? Apparently I can buy these here in Victoria without a licence, according to the supplier, but at 9 TIMES the cost you guys pay for them. Just curious if they are as good as the benchmark Pmags.

Rod,
Hex mag and taco's are a hard pass. They may work for a bit but under repeated use they will fail. Seen enough in training class where these mags induce too many problems and miss feeds. Go with a Mag or Okay industries/Coly Al mags.

Thanks. I'll stick to the proven Pmags for now, unless something better (and cheaper) comes along. I have to pay $80 for a 10 rd restricted Pmag 30, and $150 for a 30 rd Hexmag. Can't buy 30 rd Pmags anywhere new without D licence. Talk about being raped.

Boy did auto correct get me or what. The Tapco's and hex mag are a hard pass. P mags are good to go. We recently had freedom week here in CA and mag restriction were lifted for a week. It is estimated that over a million mags made it into California in that week when the law was nullified. I feel for you guys in Australia and New Zealand.
