My speed controller did the same thing. AE sent me a replacement pretty quickly but I bought a Castle Creations Sidewinder and 4600Kv motor for it.

I put the stock controller and motor back in last week and it's been working great.

Why did you go back to stock? I was going to but Traxxas ESCs because they are waterproof and I'm going to put paddles on it and take it to the beach.

I sent the Sidewinder in for a warranty replacement. The heat sink fell off... still worked fine, though.

The truck is sooo much more controllable with the stock ESC and motor. With LiPo batteries it's still plenty fast on the bottom end, too. Still, it's not near as much fun as the Castle Creations stuff. Stupid fast and out of control is just a lot more satisfying. It's kinda like a 10,000 horsepower Pro-2. It has a BIG appetite for rear tires too....

I didn't know about that stuff when I ordered mine. Had I thought about it at the time I would have ordered waterproof parts.

Do you know how the LRP power compares to the Castle Creations stuff?

By the way, Castle Creations was great to deal with on my warranty issue.

I just got a call from Associated, they are going to replace both controllers. Looks like there was some moisture damage from when we ran on the track just after watering.

I'm really happy with their customer service, they could have easily denied this claim.

I'll be back in action tonight. I was going to get the RPM A-arms to replace my broken rear arm but I found a set of 4 new stock arms for $9.99 shipped. Now I have extras.

My rear tires are so done. Just letting of the throttle with any sort of speed induces a spin. My buddy keeps telling me I need to learn throttle control, to stop annihilating the tires, blah, blah, blah. Screw that! Putting over stuff is lame. At full throttle it's like trying to aim a bottle rocket... and a blast!

I'm not real impressed with the stock rear tires, I think some of the alternatives would work better. The BFGs look the coolest though!

I think I'm just going to buy some stock replacements for now just because they're cheap. They seem to work pretty well on pavement which is where I use my truck most. Then again, I don't have anything to compare them to. The BFG tires definitely look bitchin'.

I also want to get some bead lock (reusable) wheels, dirt tires and paddles... this shit is adding up! Oh well. It's still way cheaper than a real truck!

I like them so far. I haven't had a chance to use the car much with the new tires, but it definitely hooks up better with the Switches on the rear. I'm looking forward to taking it out to the beach with the sand tires.
