Went out to the range again today. Last visit, I fired a few handloads out of my "$50 Special" and it produced a surprising 1 1/4" x 3/16" at 200m. Today, I have several more of this particular load, and fired off 5 very carefully at the same 200m range, not expecting anything. Boy, did I get a surprise when I got up to the target. 1' x 1"!

150 gn Speer Hot Cor over 42.5 gns of ADI2208 in a Federal case and Sellier & Bellot primer. The rifle is a Lithgow 1942 #1 Mk 3 FTR'd action, Lithgow heavy barrel shortened to 18.5", sporterised military stock(s), Addley Precision mount, Millet steel Weaver rings and Field 3 x 9 x 40 variable. This thing is a hodge-podge of different bits and pieces, but basically, its a perfect replica of the carbine my Dad built for HIS Dad back in '71, apart from my use of a scope instead of the Bisley rear range sight. When Grandad passed in '76, it got pirated to fix/make a few other of Dad's creations, and the barrel sat in a box in the shed for 37 years until we found it earlier this year. It's been a pet project for a while, and I think the old boy would be proud of what I've made out of it. I'm gonna be proud to keep on using it to honour his memory. :D

Forget to mention (seeing we dont have edit), thats a 4 shot group, the lower left (closest to centre) is 2 shots virtually through the same hole, the grid spacings are 1 inch per line.

I think so, too, Rob. :) It shots my handloads better than the long gun (#4) which likes Federal 150gn SP's, but that stuff's expensive here. I'm thinking of putting the #4 back to full military spec and keeping it for military range shoots, and concentrate on the MVP pairing of 300 Blackout and 5.56 (MVP Patrol and Predator Flex) for my "in-betweeners". :D My "Grandads Special" will be my main gun for the wild pigs up in NSW and QLD.

I picked up the Savage FV-SR last thursday, and its safely locked away. I picked up a 10 rd mag to go with it. Hopefully, the Tasco will be here later this week, along with the B-Square mounts. Once its all fitted up, I'll post a pic or two :)

I think my mom is having a midlife crisis. She has always disliked guns since I was a kid and my Dad got me a 22lr Remington rifle. She turned 60 this month and she has started talking about wanting to get a Hand gun and have me help her build a rifle like I did a few years ago. She really likes my AR15 Target Rifle. Mine is really heavy due to the 20" bull barrel.

So We just got two 80% polymer AR15 lowers and they came with a Jig, the end mill bits and drill bits for $50 each. She wants to learn to make her own gun with my help. Her rifle is going to be a lightweight 14.5" or 16 barrel tactical Carbine with a Linear compensator to redirect the muzzle sound down range. If we go with a 14.5" barrel we will need a 2" compensator that is spot welded to make it legal.

On my polymer lower, I am going to do my AR15 7.5" Pistol. I think I am going to use my forged aluminum lower to do a 300 Blackout 16" rifle.

Rod, have you got to use your 300 Blackout rifle yet? Or is it still in customs? If you have, what do you think of it? I have read alot of good reviews for the AR15 with it.
I was considering an AR10 with the 308.

My AR pistol will be in .223/5.56. The goul is a weapon that can be stored in a Go Bag backpack in a bugout situation where a full length rifle would be to conspicuous. The AR pistol is the closest I can legally get to a SBR in California without a class 3 license.

More projects but I will get some practice on my mill.

Still in cuntstoms, Mate  Not sure if I'll have it this side of Xmas. I've heard a lot of stories about the 300 Blackout, some good, some bad. Mostly on the AR platform. Mine's a bolt gun, so I don't think I'll have so many problems. If and when I get it, I'll put a few through it and let you know what I think ;)

Sorry, customs is being Nazi's. Ya every time we turn around here in CALIFORNIA it seems the anti gun Nazi's are trying to take away more of our rights. I understand laws that make sense, but a gun with a short barrel of a unwelded flash hider is not anymore dangerous. Also a black gun does not make it a machine gun.

So at work today, Pawn Stars was on in the waiting room and when I walked by, a guy was trying to sell an air pistol... Just like the one I got from my grandfather-in-law. I found some info on it online... it might be time to tear it down and make it work again.

Anyone know anything about these?

I just remember drooling over them and the Bowie knives at the best store, long before best became best buy. All the stores used to sell cool sporting goods back then. As I recall that's a spring driven pistol not air and it shoots pellets. It was a single cock single shot. There was a BB gun version too but it looked more like a barretta.

So, the Mossberg Patrol I ordered in 300 Blackout wont be released from Cuntstoms until the New Year some time. I've spoken to the gunshop on several occasions, but the hold-up on delivery is being blamed on Obutthead's visit to the G20. For almost a month, Customs has cited " security concerns for the G20" as the reasons for delaying the release of about 4,000 firearms. The gun is definately in Customs, we (the dealer and I) are just waiting for the beurocratic BS to abate and for the gates to open for it's release. Until then, I'm playing the waiting game. In the meantime, I am downsizing dramatically at home, selling off ALL my un-needed stuff on Ebay. I'm also giving the pistol licence idea the flick, as I am required to buy a new safe ($700+) to store the pistol inside it's own seperate lockbox, plus a whole bunch of new security rules are coming. I just don't have time for this bullshit. I'm going to add a Baikal coach gun, a MVP .223 Flex tactical and a Remington 7600 in 30-06 to my current collection and thats it. In the meantime, a merry and safe Xmas to all my fellow Bronco bretheren.
Cheers :D

Rod,
Sorry to here that Australia is worse than California with respect to gun laws. Even so California is outlawing these. Picked mine up before they were outlawed. Cool tennis bag came with the pistol. Some has a sense of humor as the bag says "Play with Fire"

Dont be sorry, be vigilant. :D Ever since the engineered "massacre" at Port Arthur in Tasmania, we have been systematically beaten down with over-regulation and massive punishments to make sure we cannot be a danger to the govt in the future. I'm just patiently waiting, eventually it will be released and I will have it to enjoy. In the meantime, I just got out of hospital after spending my birthday and most of Christmas there due to another kidney/bladder infection. They and I are completely baffled as to where I am getting these infections from, but they lay waste when they happen. I have more tests next week, to try and find the cause once and for all. Nothing like pissing broken bottles out every time I need a leak. I had to have a catheter this time, the pain was too much, even for me. I DID have time to put the Savage combo together, except the shop sent me the wrong mounts (again) and I ended up settling for a Weaver Tactical ring set and fitting the Bushnell XLT Trophy instead of the Tasco Tactical. No complaints there, as this thing is an absolute tack driver with any ammo I run through it. On a life-size crow (raven) target @ 50M, I have a 5 shot group of 1/8" x 3/16" right through the eye area on the target using Winchester HV hollow points. It does the same with Winchester sub-sonic, but prints a 3/4 inch lower. With my mate as witness, I put 3 shots into the same hole @ 25M, so it exceeds all expectations. The best part, everyone who sees and holds it, loves the balance and feel of it and the stubby black mean-ness of it just exudes cool. Worth every penny :D Merry Xmas.

I'm not embarassed to say I've spent about 30 minutes tonight working on this with my girls singing along. Will do soon with live ammunition.

One of the most entertaining videos Ive seen in a while... fun, impressive handgun manipulation and a catchy tune to boot.
