Inaugural SCORE Baja Sur 500-April 16-19.

What's the deal with this race? It keeps confusing me when I see it on the calendar. It seems like a big commitment less than two months before the Baja 500. Anyone here racing or planning to attend?

I guess SCORE is striving to replace the San Felipe race. The SUR race is close to the dates of previous 250s and will only slightly affect to the top participants who do both races. Guys going for overall points will do both. Most US guys will likely skip the SUR race and racer attendance will be way bigger than the SF 250 due to many locals. The whole thing smells like more money for Roger. Time will tell?

Large racing community in Baja Sur with a healthy racing series and Roger is trying to tap into it.

Originally you could race either 500, or run both and get a throwout. Now You can throw out any race except the 1k.

Basically its optional.
