Looks like that spot on the peninsula just south of town, where the ship wreck is but I haven't been down there in eons.

On the map, it's Playa Corona which is only about a half mile North of Estero. That photo is facing Ensenada.

The Moss crew!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to spend but a few minutes with them but it was good to see the crew anyway. Next time we'll have to work in some hang out and B.S. time.

Later that evening I walked right past a table full of Moss crew members and didn't even know it. Perhaps I was blinded by taco lust?

They were! I'm a complete taco snob and while these weren't quite as good as my regular place in TJ, I have to admit, they were pretty damn close. No one wanted to go big with me so I took it easy. Taco total for the trip was 28. I should note, however, the above tacos are not regulation size. They're made on standard size, single corn tortillas and with a lot more meat that the small double tortillas which have served as the competition/regulation size for as long as I can remember. No matter, they still tasted great!

Customs was NOT kind to us this trip. We got up at 3am to get to the border early in case we were help up... and we were. We got a red light on the way in which mean inspection. We then waited 4 hours for a Mexican Customs agent to come inspect merchandise. Stand around, twiddle your thumbs, a couple 5-10 minute naps in a seated, upright position... pretty much a suckfest. Finally the agent shows up and spends about 2 minutes looking around the trailer and says we're fine. Another 20-30 minutes for paper work and finally we're free to continue to the beach house. Good news except now we're traveling on highway 3 at night with slow motor homes and trucks and others that are fast and seemingly attempting to run us off the road... good times.

The way back into the U.S. should be smoother. Right? Smoother yes. Smooth? No. We spend some time in line with all the other trucks, get to the first booth on the Mexican side... paperwork looks OK but there are too many people in the truck. Huh? This is the same crew we came in with. Customs had no issues with us on entry. The guy tells us only the driver can enter and the three of us passengers will have to walk. We explain that the same truck and trailer and 4 people entered with no problems a few days ago. They say we should have been stopped then, too and that a guard is en route to escort all of us, truck and trailer out of line and we have to do it all over again without passengers. But this exact truck and trailer entered and exited the country in June for the 500 and had no issues! The guy says the rules have changed and it's a no-go. F$%K!

After some pleading, they decide to let the truck and driver continue and escort us passengers out to the street and tell us to walk across... well, it's better than starting over!

The truth is, we were giving some pretty good deals and some really good deals but if you guys ever feel like you're paying too much for product in Mexico from a U.S. vendor, know that it is expensive and a complete pain in the ass to get that stuff across the border.

Walking to the pedestrian crossing. Shortly after, back in the good ole U.S. of A! Bittersweet, of course. You have your rights back but you don't have those tacos....

Mmmmm. I miss those tacos!

I hit a taco truck in Santa Ana yesterday to try & feel like I was there. They were acceptable, but unfortunately not quite the same. No pics aside from just the truck unfortunately as the evidence was eating too quickly to take a pic.

As of right now, Don and the Moss crew are at RM986 doing 44mph. They've averaged around 35mph and have more than enough time to finish the last 290 miles. Those guys never cease to amaze.

It's crazy to think that I've driven home from the border, hung out with the family, slept 5.5 hours, spent an entire day at work, come home and eaten dinner. All the while, the Moss Bronco has been chipping away at that Baja 1000 course.

Keep up the great work, team Moss!

I agree Steve 48hrs of driving, not for the faint of heart. For someone just to finish is pretty amazing really.

So what happened to bj anyway he ate the big chorizo? Got the montezumas revenge? That or constant puking is the only way I'd call it quits.
.... Then agian I'd probably just shit myself and try outrun my stink as incentive to go faster.
I guess At least he didn't pull an RG and blow his engine so he'd have an excuse.

DB Baldwin broke a nail and quit...again. See a pattern here? RG broke, repaired and rolled in for a finish...top 10 I believe.
