Huckfest 2014

Post by 1Hondalover »

No dates out yet for Huckfest this year. Steve do you have any secret intel hookup with any of the rangers to see if they know it? I'd like to lock some plans down.

No idea, Jim. Dezert-Rangers or Facebook would be the place to look for that. I hadn't even thought about it but I suppose it's not too late to start planning.

I'm sure they'll have something soon. Last I saw they're supposed to have something called Hucktour which might be pretty cool.

We were up there with a friends twin turbo duramax pulling people out all weekend, wasn't asking for money but he made like $200, taco dinner and a bottle of tequila. Wasn't a money maker but we had fun doing it. It was hella windy that year better than sitting outside in the sand storm.

That was not last year but the year before. Last year I helped a couple guys out with the waggy but I would make them work at it before I would pull em out.

I remember someone telling me it was illegal to charge someone for a tow unless you are a vendor or something.

It is illegal, but if someone give you money you are fine. Usually. If a ranger saw money exchange hands you would prolly get a ticket

Why would it be illegal? Rangers on the local tow companies payroll? I don't see an issue if someone wants to give someone something for their trouble.

Oceano Dunes won't let you make reservations on that date due to a special event.

There's a guy with a huge wrecker that charges insane amounts of money to pull stuck vehicles out. The year we had Matilda (Cherokee Chief on 47's with 500 HP) out there, we were pulling people out just for fun. We even pulled out our '03 Super Duty hooked to our huge toy hauler after a we had burried it and broken a stub shaft in camp. That Jeep was awesome!
