2013 Baja HID run

I'm noticing a trend...

Indeed I am

I was ebullient about the U.S. run, being that a lot of members North of the border would be joining the "U.S GFB/Mojave,BJAHID excursion" run to share some camaraderie.

Oh well it's only online associates.

I'm sure most of you are aware of our little predicament with our congressional representative's galactic failure to pass a budget or even a stopgap continuing resolution prior to the beginning of the fiscal year. This failure to act may have a direct impact on our trip as with a government shutdown, our National Park Service is now unfunded and all Park Service employees are furloughed... not working and not getting paid. So, all National Parks are CLOSED including the Mojave National Preserve... all, pending a continuing resolution or budget deal. Since the National Park is closed we cannot run the Mojave Road.

The good news is that the likelihood that the shutdown will last 11 days is exceptionally low. We can ill afford to shut down the government for any length of time and thus, some stop-gap measure or CR will be passed prior to our trip. Never claiming to be a soothsayer, my crystal ball, although not clear, does show that the odds of our trip going is still WELL ABOVE 97%.

So, we will continue to plan for full mission execution! Can't wait...

ps... I will continue to closely monitor and let everyone know as things progress... But don't fret... we will be just fine and our trip is still FULL SPEED AHEAD!

I hope you are right, but, in the event it is still shutdown there are excellent options for a work around. We can still meet at afton campground and run the MT to the Razor offroad area which is still outside the park. Head up to Baker via 15 and go from there. Lots of traiis out there, I vote we go regardless!

Gents,

I've been busting my butt to be ready for this trip and a couple other events in the short-term future but it's time to admit to myself that I have spread myself too thin and have over-committed. As recently as a couple hours ago, I was full-steam ahead, prepping for the trail run. Unfortunately, and although this is something I've looked forward to for many years, this is the only thing I can back out of with minimal effect on others. Apologies to all involved. I will no doubt regret missing this one.

Agreed. the fam was looking forward to this. I even bought some new (to me) shoes for the Explorer yesterday specifically for this trip. But, it just ain't in the cards. I know.

I'd suggest the holiday inn off outlet center. Seems some others have used it and it worked out.

If Holiday Inn parking is a nogo, Gail out at Slash X said we could park out behind the restaurant in the camping area for nothing which is nice. The Holiday Inn is so much closer to In-N-Out though so torn. hehe!
