Re: Baja 500 2014
Last minute prep on a couple chase truck radios. Watch it at the border guys, the Mexican Custom's guys are being as picky as ever. Tell them you are with Score when you cross, it helps sometimes. It helps if you put a Score sticker on the drivers side front windshield. Be safe guys.

Re: Baja 500 2014
I'm waiting at MM 172 for you guys to catch up.
Re: Baja 500 2014
Headed down on Friday am to help out with Giant Motorsports crew as well (Chris I think we met the other day at the pit meeting?). We'll be over at Tres Hermanos/Valle T/Dry Lake Bed in Tina Turner. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the GFB crew.
Any of you guys know if there's chase access to Tres Hermanos without getting on course??

You can get in and out of tres hermanos without going on course, from Uripan on highway 1.
It's an old race course they stopped using about 10 years ago and is now used by locals for ranch access.
Kinda rough, but no problem for a stock bronco for example.

I'm so far behind at work I won't be making this race. First Score race I've missed in like eight years. I'll be tracking the progress and sending text updates to the Moss crew. Everyone stay safe and have fun.

Re: Baja 500 2014
We outlasted the #303 for the win. Lots of log jams on the course that burned a bunch of time, pushing us up against the closing check points. Tightened a loose belt and welded up a hole in the exhaust after the lake bed. New engine finally ran as well as it ever has, ran 100+ on the lake bed with a pretty mild 351.
That Dakar truck was just amazing! Imagine how big it looks in pictures and when you get up next to it, it must be 25% bigger than you thought. They really did plan on carrying chain saws to take care of the trees! The cab has its own cage with what looks like 2-1/2 to 3" tube that is independant of the frame of the truck. The cab and cage are mounted on their own coil overs! Unfortunately the picture of the shocks did not come out. They ran just a little past Ojos and then took it back to town. Heard the driver was not feeling that well, and apparently substitute drivers are unheard of in the rally world, as Darren Skilton volunteered to carry on. I will also never complain again about what Deaver springs cost, the springs on this thing must cost an arm and a leg! It uses some complicated looking leafs as well as a pair of coil overs at each corner. In addition all of the pivot points are serviced by what must be an automatic central greasing system as the stuff was coming out of everywhere.

This is that Iveco prerunning on Wednesday around RM172ish.
Odd, I didn't see any of you guys down there. I did see a new Dodge Ram with 300 stickers in line at Tecate on Sunday morning. I didn't know anyone in the truck.

Haha, I was thinking the same thing! Don't know how we missed you, we were in that tech line from 8:30 to almost 5. Stupid. There were still 20 or 30 cars in line AFTER the drivers meeting Friday night!philofab wrote:http://instagram.com/p/o1s8SBDyBf/

That was most of my crew in the Dodge. Dave, Gary, Dan, Craig, Bailey and Dennis. They did the Pacific side, went back to the house and got a couple hours sleep, met us at the finish, went back to the house and loaded up and headed North like you did.

Anyone get pictures of the linked 73-79 crew cab short bed F250? The blue one? I wasn't able to catch it stopped somewhere.
