No, it is not a Stroppe, but I couldn't resist the paint scheme.

My ride is a mixture of stuff. It is closest to a 77, with the big bearing fishmouth housing, D44 disc axle, and 77 chassis. It was titled as a 74, so I'm going with that.

Built it from the frame up. The original frame rails are intact and everything is tubed off of that. The sheet metal is basically hung off the tube work.

Mostly what we do is a mixture of crawling and wide open running (like the KOH competition out where you guys (or y'all like they say here) live).

Right now I am undoing what I already did on the suspension. I've never raced off road vehicles before. Racing and crawling are totally different, come to find out...

I originally flipped the rear shackle hangers. Now I am setting them back to stock configuration. Got some better springs for more up-travel, relocated the bump stops, changed the oil pan for more clearance, and got some super sweet KING bypasses for the front and 2.5" resi shocks for the rear (12" front, 16" rear). Oh yeah!

Some more pics. Basically, I am adding more up travel, softening springs a touch, and adding some real shocks. All in hopes of the going faster part. Going slow hasn't been much of an issue. Have most of that worked out now with a selectable OX locker in the front, a spool in the rear, C-4 auto, and twin sticked D20 that will soon be getting the upgraded output shaft.

Got some good use out of my dad's old impact wrench and a 5/8" drill bit that I inherited last year after his unexpected passing. Just had to include that!

We are running 33" MT Baja Claws on 15" MRW steel beadlocks. So far the front is doing ok. Did note a loose cap in the one CTM this weekend. The stub shaft was just about to go. We replaced it in the pits before our main event.

Ended up coming in 2nd. It really hooks up now. Getting some bottoming on the front end. Contemplating on finding some air bumps for the front. Not sure if it is worth it. Anyone is welcome to chime in! I have thought about valving the front bypass shocks heavier. They do get hot though. Not sure if there is a good rule of thumb to go by for valving vs. heat issues. We run for 2 hours at the most.

2 hours is plenty long to fry shocks on the right terrain. Have the shocks been valved or are they off the shelf?

Shocks have been valved by someone else. I just threw them on... I have some basic working knowledge of shock tech, but hadn't had these apart yet. Any recommendations? A call to King for some insight might be in order. Don't want to do something I shouldn't...

Valving shocks is all about trial and error. King will probably give you a ball park. Maybe start there and adjust as needed.

The first step would be to figure out what's in them now.
