Well it's been a while but I decided to bore you all with another build. We've had this one for 5 years and decided it was time to do ball joints tie rods etc and figured why not give it some extra love since I finished the bug. Plan is coilovers radius arms cut and turn beams leafs and mount the shocks underneath the floor. Thought about a short course style 4 link but don't want to lose any interior space. Image

Got the passenger beam done coilovers mocked up on one side. Looks like I'll be cutting off the existing shock mounts but the cage fits. Had my daughter (major Tom boy) help me for a bit. Got alot stripped down and headers installed so far. ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Thank you Sir! I missed the bronco crowd. Hopefully this thing will be done in a decent amount timeframe and get together with some old friends.

Glad to see you around again Randy, and good to see Carly's bronco getting some fun stuff. Also awesome to see your little helper. Is it just one of them that helps or do they both like helping you? My daughter doesn't have any interest in working on anything really. She's very much a "girly girl" it seems. My son on the other hand wants to help, but is young enough still it takes more time to wrangle him and keep an eye on him that I get to actually work. Hoping he keeps interest though so we can build stuff together when he's a couple years older.

Hey Steve thank you. Yeah she's been dropping hints for a while I just wanted to do it all at once. The girls have been in the garage since they were three months old in jumpies so they both enjoy helping. I've been helping my in-laws race team and the girls help me scrape cars too. They are used to the noises and Sparks. They even have a welding helmet and stand back to watch. Its fun with them. They can't wait until it's done.

Progress is progress. Trying my hand at cut and turn etc on my own with some advise from friends. I decided to keep it on bushings but I still reinforced passengers and drivers bungs. Drivers truss is almost done. Passengers side is completed.ImageImageImageImage

Thank you bftank. I got the top plate done and some primer on it. Need the bash plate welded underneath the beam and it can be complete. Steve I already plan on it. It's a pain to drain and refill. I did it once with a sucker pump and it wasn't fun. Image

Thank you. It's not bad for having basic tooling and basic fab know how. Plus friends who have done it makes it possible. I've learned a ton just in building the beams. I had a 92 and loved it. Just take it one step at a time. It's a learning experience for sure. Just remember if your doing it yourself that you will quickly see why fab shops charge what the do.
