Thing that slowed down the "get it out of here" was the fact that the guy buying it was gonna turn it and most likely make 20-30k. That brought up the "why don't we finish it and sell" which brings up my "why don't we finish it and KEEEEEEEP IT! lol.

I have very limited time to do anything anymore so I've been looking at what it would take to just get it running, and what of that I'm comfortable having someone else do. I have a list of things that need to be done to get it running, then stuff that needs to be done before I'd really use it much, then stuff that can be done over time or down the road. Now I just gotta bite the bullet and present my info with estimated costs. I just always get nervous doing so as I hate the possibility of it leaving. Too much attachment to a material thing for sure, but I have like 1/4 of my life invested in the thing!!

I can imagine. The green bronco has been sitting 4 years and i can't let it go neither. I've been offered a decent amount for what is done, but Carly nor I can make it go away. We want to finish it. Although with the pricing these days, and what'll be done, it'd get us a good way toward a new f150. I know you've had it in the works a long time. Get it drivable and it can be easier to get the other non essentials done.

Setup my tie rods. I found out afterward i have 1.25 tube to sleeve since the 1.5 is .120 wall so ill remake the two long ones. Its close. Next will be the drivers bump then figuring out the guts ive flopped around in the engine bay. I picked up a cardone 20-7272 power steering pump. I figured 225k miles and 3 turns on 35s and it wouldve shit the bed. Also picked up a power steering cooler. All grade 8 hardware in the steering. 3/4” bolts all except the knuckles. 5/8” bolts with bronze oilite bushings just in case the knuckle ears take a beating. Its easier to replace a bushing than find an abs knuckle. Oh and ill be keeping the abs and putting it on a switch. All in all i only lost 1/8-1/4” of turn radius. Not bad. It cycles 12-13” travel but its clean and no stress to parts.

I did actually but i just cant justify the cost right now. He does a stellar job on them. Don’t worry Nick its not going anywhere yet. Carly and the girls wouldn’t let it happen. Besides if i get rid of this one there is no way I’m owning one again at the current prices. They’re no longer affordable to buy and build for sure.

Death trap peices of shit are going at 10k plus! Wtf!? And lets not even talk about what go fast parts are going for nowdays. My truck was nothing special, but i had some good stuff on it. In today's market, i can't replicate it.

Thats no lie. I about died when i saw what a set of cut and turns cost. One of the big reasons im attempting my own stuff. Theres no way i could drop $2,800.00 just for steering. Dont get me wrong its beautiful and far better than mine but ive got 105.00 in dom some 7/8 heims (nothing fancy) and plate plus bolts. Yeah for a bit i saw some posts on facebook for a rust bucket back east and swore it was a joke. Turns out it wasnt. We paid 3,200.00 for carlys bronco 10ish years ago.

Again the girls' racing has taken time, but I have been quietly, slowly moving forward. I found a set of what was classified as Q80 springs, but I believe they are altered J40 springs. Either way for 600.00 I wasn't angry. Also, I finally got 2 tires and wheels mounted. I still enjoy the alcoas. I'm going to rough align it to verify tie rod length, then continue to reassemble the front. I have one bump can mount to finish, and random brackets for stuff like the intake tube, and the fuse box. Hoping to get started on that soon too. We are close to a two month break, so I am hoping to have the front end squared before the season restarts.

Woohoo! Got another day. Made the mount to hold the intake, finished the bump can for the drivers side and rough aligned it. I think im going to make another set of tie rods and sleeve them since its .120 wall tubing.

Okay finished a few more things. Upgraded power steering pump, new lines, cooler (not the stock one), and switched to the 1 ton booster and master. Im hoping to see good results and also help with a brake upgrade later. Also ran new brake lines on the driver side so they will run down the radius arm. I wore a hole in a nose once with extended lines.

Has anyone had experience with the t-bird calipers up front? I've heard decent results. I figure with the 1 ton rear cylinders and the t bird front calipers and the 1 ton mc / booster, I should have a decent amount of braking power.

Okay so those are the varga rear calipers you were talking about. That makes sense. I was referencing having to go to a pre 85 front spindle to run the larger 78 thunderbird calipers. Supposedly the piston is bigger. At that point wouldn't I need to go to the early 2000's master cylinder since it was disc / disc?

The T-Bird calipers won't fit on the TTB front knuckles afaik. The T-Bird caliper swap is for the 79-earlier trucks.

Yes, the piston is bigger than the ones on the pickups/Broncos.

They will with mods. You have to clearance the ear on the beam on some. You also have to run pre 85 knuckles which I am not going to do. I want to keep the abs in the truck and run it on a switch.
