Really nice work! Could you expand into as much detail as possible about the rear brakes—- which models, mounting, how you like them, why’d you choose them, wound you buy again and what about the emergency brake??

What's different about performance vs race? Viton vs rubber seals?

I've seen their Fox vs King comparison too. They seem to be a bit Fox nut-huggy.

Is Fox Factory and Performance series similar to King's Race vs Performance series'?

Fox is a better product when you get down into the details and nuanced things on what make a shock work, but they cant seem to understand people dont want to wait 2-3 months for shocks. for a company that sole purpose is to make shocks, they cant do it in a timely manner.

yea, kinda. i believe they were attempting to hit a price point that didnt exist. the performance series was a misstep on their part and they should have marketed is as an OEM line, in my opinion.

It really came down to availability and cost. Like you said the lead time on a factory series coilover with dsc was going to be a couple months. I had Accutune replace the low flow piston with the factory series piston and I made some shock shaft covers. They work great so far, I don’t regret my decision but maybe that will change in a couple years.

The rotors are 2007 ram 1500 fronts if I remember correctly. Wilwoods are superlites 120-11135. I made the bracket. Pretty simple with a jog in it. Changed over to the f350 1-1/4” master. Stock booster.

First trip out they were a little spongey but I found a loose fitting and bled them and I’ve been pretty impressed so far. If I could have fit the f350 booster I would have ran that too. That would help a bunch I imagine cause I think it’s a double diaphragm.

Hope that helps

Well the thrashing to New Years trip in JV was successful. It came down to the wire with the trans pushing out the pump seal days before the trip. Luckily I had a stock trans sitting at home and swapped it in. Not great, but it worked.

Dyno run. I thought it would make more hp but the butt dyno feels good so whatever. It was also in 4hi on the dyno so there may have been a few more ponies in there. This is also where the trans gave up the ghost. I'm thinking it being in 4hi and the 4500-5000rpm pulls didn't help the trans issue.

Finally the trip. No major issues to speak of. The 58 was shut down so it took forever to get there. 3.5 hrs on the side of the hwy waiting for it to open up.

I turned some tubes on the rear shocks, it still doesn't ride great back there but I think I'm getting that sorted out.

I did have a bit of a fluid slosh issue. Trans (got that figured out, broken dip stick tube), coolant and power steering fluid. I need to figure out a baffle or something in those reservoirs.

All in all it was a great trip. A little muddy but no dust.

Ryan at Accutune met me out there towards the end of my trip and we did some shock work. We made some strides in the right direction but they need just a little more tweaking. Ryan know's his shit, I would definitely recommend him and the gang at Accutune if you need some shock tuning or are looking for an out of the box tune with a new set up.
