September 2016? Trying to get back on track......an alternate E4OD mount?

A warmed over 5.8 swap happening to Mom & Dad's Thanksgiving Bronco any day now. Some new pieces to go along with it, including some Solo Boys' motor mounts. Then I'm thinking about the transmission mount. Not too many options other than OE type or the race piece from Autofab. This isn't the Prerunner, so John's piece is overkill. Bobby says they're having the best luck with the Anchor OE copy, but it looks kind of nasty. Deceptively heavy duty with the giant steel surround but joined with comparatively little rubber isolation.

I'm looking around. There's got to be another alternative. An Energy Suspension #4-1104 shows up on my screen, looking remarkably as shapely as the nasty. It's for a Mustang but still a Ford. Buy it too. Good eye......the polyurethane wonder is the same, with one notable difference. The nasty has 1/2" studs while the Poly has 7/16" internal threads. Before you get to it, I know a Mustang doesn't thrash a transmission like a Bronco and may not cut the mustard but I'm going to quiz Energy for their thoughts on it.

Any other thoughts?

Fingers crossed......Mom & Dad's Thanksgiving Bronco was dropped off yesterday at Full Throttle Kustomz with some of its new guts. Hopefully this will save some time and headache with everything from swap to dyno under one roof.

Hey Jim, just getting caught up over here, great looking project so far...what was done to the "warmed over" 351?

Everything within reason that will pass any smog test with no games Robert. FTK is putting the 56MM BBK on it, and it was fit with its new F150 "ram air" intake before delivery.

It will be interesting to see the dyno results of this engine compared to what it spun when OE with the "illegal" Bassani setup and other toys under the hood of Jim & Paige's Bronco.

New engine in and running around gathering 1,000 break-in miles before we go to final dyno tuning on the 7th. I'm going to put a 4.10 R&P temporarily in the rear so the tuning happens on final gearing. Funny how much quieter it got, even with the headers. Sort of a tight solid sound unlike we're used to coming out of a 22 year old Bronco. Sure pulls nice.

What an unbelievable difference the Red Head box and Borgeson steering shaft made.

Jim -I’m curious to know how that new steering shaft connects to you stock steering column? I just found out today that my lower steering u-joint is the wrong spline for flat Saginaw box so I’m thinking about a whole new unit.

So we got a bit of extra twist with the new engine and its few E.O. parts. We'll call it good enough for my DD and for Mom & Dad to cruise in Baja now 2019. We had a used Ford 4.10 R&P stuffed in the rear to make sure we were tuning on final gearing. Calcs not included on the dyno report put the crankshaft numbers at 283 HP and 423 TQ. Boy we sure could raise those numbers with an intake and some heads, but it runs pretty damn good and maybe best of all doesn't leak a drop of oil any longer! Awesome pieces, but I'm not sure the Solo motor mounts were the best idea in this rig. Definitely makes it feel a little "harder" going down the road.

This is exactly how i see my build going down, then taking the long road to saving up for a coilover conversion up front.

P.s. more details on exactly what you did with the motor. Fellow CA prisoner here.
