1989 Bronco Build Thread
Well after messing around with projects and stuff I didn’t really want as bad but taking because of convenience the last 4 years, I finally bought a Bronco. Lots of good build threads on here and on Go Fast that I’ve learned some things from, but mostly I’m just stoked to have one of these finally. I actually wanted a 94-96 and especially a 96, but didn’t find any clean enough ones for as much as I picked this thing up for.
• 1989 XLT
• White/Copper Paint
• Currently on 32 BFGS
• Summit Crate 351 Long Block
• Rebuilt C6 with Shift Kit
• Rebuilt 1356 BW T-Case
• Rebuilt D44/8.8 Combo (Supposedly, no proof other than owners word and I haven’t verified.
• Flowmaster muffler on stock Exhaust
• 141K Original Miles
Overall the thing is super straight and mostly rust free save for one rust spot along the driver side rain gutter. The interior is in pretty good shape aside from the driver’s seat and carpet. The dash is MINT, by far the nicest cleanest dash I’ve seen in any OBS type Ford. My current goal with the truck is to get a basic 4” lift under it so I can get some 35s on it and start logging dirt miles and enjoying it. In the past I’ve fallen victim to the same bug many of us have had: Buying a project and shooting for the top immediately, not having the budget to make it happen quick enough, and then selling a half completed project out of discouragement. That said, I went ahead and ordered a Superlifts 4” kit that came with shocks, 4” lift coils, drop brackets, radius arms, the hardware, shocks, drop pitman arm, and a block for the rear. Also went ahead and ordered the super runners steering from summit as that part of the truck needs some love as well and it seems like a solid improvement over stock stuff based on what I’ve read. Steering box also has slop in it. Going to adjust it for now but going back and fourth between replacing it with a stock box and a redhead. Once I do the lift it will be 4.10s and lockers. At that point ill have a rig that will get me out to the desert so I can wheel a little, shoot all the guns I’ve spent way too much money on, and sleep in the back comfortably since I sold my F250 and im down to just having this and the company car. Time will tell.
First night I brought it home. It rained heavy all week, back window didn’t work, but the thing fired right up and ran good. Normally I’m thorough with purchases but I showed up grabbed the keys, drove it around the block, gave the dude the money and left.

Re:
It is, im gonna snap a few pics of it in the day time. body is straight aside from one spot above the driver door with a rust hole. I was hoping to find one either all black, all white, forest green, or seafoam green. But with the starting point I Got with this thing for the money I couldn't beat it. I actualy dig the color and may get the truck repainted in that color at some point. But I always figured if I hated it it was front fenders, doors, and rear glass away from being all white anyways.snowman429 wrote:Is that brown and white?

1989 Build
I only asked because I have it's younger twin. This was before I started the current transformation.

Re: 1989 Build
It's okay, mines still stock suspension wise except for me ditching the front sway bar haha hoping to have my new front shocks and 2" coils on soon. Looks good, I'm liking the uncommon oem paint scheme

Re: 1989 Build
Back window didn't work so I decided to get that handled so I didn't freeze my ass off at hammers TOO bad this year since I'll be sleeping in the back of it. $15 kit and it was back in action.

If you were at KOH, I think you were not too far from our group. Didn't realize it until I looked at your thread just now.S00TLYFE wrote:...I didn't freeze my ass off at hammers TOO bad this year

Re: 1989 Build
Was working down in Oceanside today and these PRPs popped up on offroadswapmeet and were about 3 miles down the road from me and since my driver seat is pretty damn blown out, I figured I'd shoe horn them into the back of my company car (VW Jetta) and it was a challenge but $700 for two buckets, a 52" bench and 5 DJ 5 point harnesses made it worth it.
