Been bad about updating my thread lately. Lots of
work out of town and stuff but the Bronco is finally back up and running. Long story short, me trying not to save money and keep it simple from the get go failed, because the radius arms only work with a drop bracket..with a cut and turn the camber ended up being way screwed and I needed like 6 degrees to bring it back to stock. I called Bobby and Paul over at solo trying to figure out where to go from there, and they confirmed my suspicion that my radius arms were in fact the issue....next thing I knew I forked out the dough and Solo was good enough to drop the radius arms to me at the job I was working. Threw those bad boys on after work and dropped the bronco at my buddies shop for alignment on my way out of town for work last week. Picked it up yesterday when I got home and put about 50 miles on it. Thing got hot and kept stalling out on me. Not sure what's going on with it, but maybe the truck has the wrong thermostat on it or something. No codes but it's obd1 and I don't have a lot of experience with those. Anyone have any idea what might be going on?

Hey just wondering why you went with threat motorsports with cut n turn beams and with the radius arms you went with solo? Was it to save money? Why not just go with one company? Like your set up. Clean looking ride.

Solo was really busy when I called for the beams and Dave had them done in a day. Plus I bought the beams from another member on here who lives out that way so he was able to drop the beams off with Dave for me. I tried to do this whole thing on the cheap and slow to avoid having it down for a long time, hindsight being 20/20 I would have just bought Solo's complete stage one kit and been done with it as I sourced the F53s from another member here. I might have saved a couple hundred bucks but the amount of time it would have saved me wouldn't have been worth saving a couple $ (to me at least)

That being said, I don't think you can go wrong with Solo or Threat, both really know their stuff and make a quality product.

Well, apparently according to FSB Solo Motorsports doesn't know how to make quality radius arms and they aren't worth running even if they're free.

Now I know what you guys are talking about when you say stay away.

Haha! He wouldn't use $900 super beefy radius arms if they were free just because of a shock tab. Wow. Those tabs are way way stronger than than anything stock on the bronco.

Haha I've seen that dude on there saying plenty of interesting stuff. I wasn't aware being in the military automatically makes you a master engoneer based off of a couple pictures on the Internet.

To play devil's advocate, I would argue one of his points is valid. The shock tabs are in rotation as opposed to on top of the beam like the OE mounts. They are out of phase, but so are the OE mounts, just in the opposite direction. They aren't perpendicular to the beam/arm arc like he said though... he obviously doesn't know as much as he thinks he does!

So what's this Hydroturf stuff you speak of?

But like Travis pointed out, doesn't that lend itself better to the way the suspension cycles better than oem?

Also, hydroturf is based in Anaheim but a lot of boat guys use it on the floor of their boats and on their jetskis, have a buddy who is sponsored by them for jet ski racing and he ran it for a headliner in his XJ and 3 years later it still looks great. Interior is last on the list though right now I think gears and lockers will be next. MIGHT do truetracs not sure yet. any opinions? Ive ran detroits in almost every rig ive ever owned including my tow pig.

check it out you can get it in just about any color combo, they also will do custom colors and the price per sheet isn't bad I forget exactly but another buddy just did his boat in it and it was reasonable. I can talk to him if any of you guys are interested as an alternative.

well, been trying to drive the bronco as much as possible lately, but have been plagued with stupid drivability issues, which I'm gathering based on research so far have everything to do with two things: 1. speed density is garbage 2. previous owner was a hack and messed with this thing so much its not even worth it to me to try and fix, as some of you know ive been researching either doing a carb or mass air swap, decided carb would be expensive to do but would present me with a ton more horsepower for (overall) cheap. I don't think I want to lose the comforts of efi though, and that has led me to (I think) this:

https://shop.fiveologyracing.com/1985-9 ... -FSMAK.htm

anyone heard of these guys? learned about them in a mustangs/fast fords article I found and it turns out they provide the entire kit for a pretty easy to install, then since I cant pass smog anyways im going to go ahead and delete the egr and charcoal can.

saw ford racing used to make a mass air conversion kit, but seems to me that they are no longer offered.

Spewed density systems are not crap. Generally, what happens is they've been neglected or hacked on which makes them run poorly. I converted my carbureted 5.8L to Speed Density and loved it. While they cannot handle the modifications that Mass Air can, they are still great systems when function in properly. I suggest not deleting any factory systems unless you truly have a grasp of the inner-workings of EFI. Otherwise, you're just inviting other problems.

FYI, most aftermarket EFI systems manage to screw at least one thing up.
