Appreciate the knowledge Steve, gonna keep that in mind as i come closer to making my decision.SteveG wrote:Spewed density systems are not crap. Generally, what happens is they've been neglected or hacked on which makes them run poorly. I converted my carbureted 5.8L to Speed Density and loved it. While they cannot handle the modifications that Mass Air can, they are still great systems when function in properly. I suggest not deleting any factory systems unless you truly have a grasp of the inner-workings of EFI. Otherwise, you're just inviting other problems.
FYI, most aftermarket EFI systems manage to screw at least one thing up.

Re: 1989 Build
Long story short method screwed up and had these listed for $69.99 brand new in the box, I quickly ordered them before someone realized what they did. Think I'm gonna paint this thing soon, matte or semi gloss gunmetal gray, any ideas from you guys?

$69.99/wheel or for 4 (supposed to have been $699.99?) Great deal though! And I definitely think you should leave the original paint, especially since it looks to be in pretty good shape.

Thanks guys, stoked on it, However the og paint isn't as nice as it looks! Would like to go gears and coilovers before paint though we'll see how impatient I get.

Re: 1989 Build
Picked up these coilovers last week, gonna build/buy something from either threat or solo to mount them, the rears are bolt on.
Also pulled rear bumper off to get better access to grind the rivets off and make some space to clearance the bottom of the Bronco for these Blitz shackles my buddy gave me.

Re: 1989 Build
Took a page out of Taylor's playbook and got the same sweet kicker terminals that he put in his f150 since mine have seen better days. Also decided it was time to replace the CD player that has a broken USB with this digital receiver since I don't listen to cds. Back to tunes in time for desert season!

Re: 1989 Build
Went ahead and did the battery terminals and stereo today, pretty clean install except previous owner did some interesting stuff with the old radio wiring that I'm currently trouble shooting. Goal for after desert season this year is to really go through the truck and do everything clean, sand and paint everything, clean up the wiring, and finish undoing 28 years of hack job repairs.

What's going on with the stereo? Where do you live? I can help you out if that isn't your strong side.

Re: 1989 Build
So far from what I can tell is that it isn't getting power, ran out of dalylight yesterday but so far haven't seen the obvious broken wire or potential bad connection, shouldn't be too bad thankfully there isn't as much wiring on these older vehicles.birdco85 wrote:What's going on with the stereo? Re: 1989 Build
The battery holder is from Autofab but I scored it from a member on here, you can adapt to the factory tray but that's also pretty bad so it's something I'm going to have to address eventually, this thing worked out really well for me though as it happened to pop up the same day I bought an optima, which by the way if you guys are in the market i know a dude up the road in Long Beach that sells them for $115 with a core, super cheap.JonMac31 wrote:I'm digging that batter cover/holder - did you make that?

Re: 1989 Build
will do taylor. it got great reviews and installed clean. Need to troubleshoot the power circuit for the radio as previous owner powered the radio by shoving wire in the powerside of the fuse box and bypassing the factory wiring. likely gonna need rewired im sure the wire got pinched or something, will let you know how it works!nubreed71 wrote:LMK how you like that Pioneer head unit...been thinking about getting the same one.

The pioneer is nice. You could just do a continuity test with a multi meter from one side of the wire to the other instead of shoving wire in places.

Re: 1989 Build
Been awhile, long story short I figured out my intermittent drivability issue was due to previous owner installing a high pressure oil pump without a hardened pump shaft, pump bent the shaft, shaft bent the distributor, so out came an engine with less than 1000 miles on it.
