I think simple went out the window when the back half was cut off!!! And it has been nothing but bad decisions since then too.
Actually, I was refering to the controls, etc. Frankly, I am one of those that demands anything I buy be reliable and do the job I expect from it. If it doesn't do what it is supposed to and riles me, it hits the ground at high velocity and I find something that WILL do the job I bought it for. I'm not going to mess around with something that just doesn't do the joib thats expected from it. Stick with the Winters shifter, it's proven reliability will allow you peace of mind out in the boonies and will do the job, every time.

Haha yeah Rod I know, I got the reference I was just joking about the simple part. I didn't make anything simple on this and am paying for it for sure. KISS is a great lesson, but can also prevent some advancement in cases. No doubt there are easier and more proven ways to do things, but whats the fun in that. I wanted to push the envelope a bit with this build and bring in some new components and ideas that I have seen elsewhere and not seen in a bronco. I got the paddle shifter idea from a TT that I drove, they have multiple score seasons on the same shifter setup I am using without issue. So perhaps once the kinks are worked out I will be happy with not keeping it simple. Perhaps I will be so pissed at trying to get there I will take your advice completely and just KISS!!!

All this waiting for the first shakedown gave us time to improve on a few things. I am not sure if this gap I have between the shell and tailgate is larger than normal but I got all new seals everywhere and dirt still flys in so we decided to try this idea. Looks clean enough and should seal really well. Went with a clear window and had a new frame made up. Will Powdercoat next week.

Haha, ok and you get the bill for the build too! Deal! I won’t have a bronco for you but I do have a nice dash you can pickup when you come down Friday. I’ll leave it at Vik’s for you.

Backup system to the paddleshifter. Vik was bored and made this cool handle for the shifter.

A few final detail items, fire suppression system is in and some extra PTT buttons are on the dash. New trans pan with extra 2qt is in too. Going out Saturday to plaster city if anyone is down there come say hi. We will be camped east of the plant and will do the list lizard thing Saturday in superstition.

I will try and get some pictures and video but I’m so bad at stopping to make time for that.

The bronco has been running great, did a few desert trips on it plus jump champs and had a blast. The front end finally had enough of the abuse and called it quits during my New Years trip. No single huge impact just steady abuse and just about everything up front got torn up. Bent shock mount, lower beam cracked almost all the way, steering swinger bent, radius arms seem fine but those bent/broke, it was definitely the right time for a new front end. I’ve been on the list to get new beams from Cho at Richer racing and he is a perfectionist, I wanted them on a month ago, he wanted them perfect and I am so glad he made me wait. These things are absolutely incredible. The pair up nicely with the Hollander knuckles and big brake setup I have.

I dropped the bronco off a Richer racing this morning and Cho is already off to the races. Going to end up redoing a handful of the original solo front end, it will be much more capable of keeping up with the rest end that Vik built. And while it’s there we are going to get the bronco on 40s.

Here is the temporary fix we did in the desert on the radius arm and then the bigger fix once it was back home.

I’m still on the fence about it, I think it looks awesome but I still like the classic bronco look, not sure I am ready to give that up.

It does seem like there was fairly positive feedback on the rendering though so maybe we will do it, give me a few months and I’ll let you know.
