Re: Bray's 96 Sleeper
Bronco is back in my hands and running better than ever.
Decided since she has been looking good and on her best behavior I'd bust out some fresh shoes.
I've been hoarding 'a few' of the Alcoa Race Prototype forged aluminum wheels for a couple years now.
These date back to the Rough Rider and Ford/Alcoa/BFG collaboration in the early 90's.
I scored a set of four at Leduc years back and was waiting for a rainy day.
Then Willie found the missing fifth for my spare AND dibs on another set of four.
Only these were the same wheels but converted into beadlocks by Champion.
At some point I became aware that Alcoa was closing more doors in the US so I called and called until I found a nice lady who
agreed to send me some stickers for the wheels haha.
About a month ago, I found the unicorn- a single Champion converted Alcoa- and I had no more excuses to procrastinate.
I had a set of 5 unmounted BFG BAJAS that I got from PaulW- and headed up to SRD in Vista to get them machined for 45 degree taper lugs and mounted up.

This thing looks sexy! I do love that grey, although I will admit I almost miss the black. It's hard to beat the clean, black looks. But this is close. And oh those wheels! LOOOOVE them. I always thought the Rough Rider wheels were 15x8. Interesting to see they were 7's. Either way - they look damn good!!!!

Re: Bray's 96 Sleeper
That looks so good! are you wider on the front? if so how much wider?
If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough!
Re: Bray's 96 Sleeper
Thanks for the kinds words Gents!
Steve, it's the strangest thing, because they measure 8" across, but state 15 x 7. Hmm.. Factory ones were 7.5" wide IIRC. These are half inch wider for sure.
Jesus, stoked to have you on the thread and apologies for any sinfulness in my youth- i beg forgiveness!
Front end is 2" wider per side- they are J-Beams built by CHO at Richer Racing...They are a perfect compromise for my use...

Re: Bray's 96 Sleeper

That's what I recall measuring & seeing in the past, but it's been years... I wonder why it is that way. Oh well, the only real concern is how damn good they look!!!DMbronco wrote:Steve, it's the strangest thing, because they measure 8" across, but state 15 x 7. Hmm.. Factory ones were 7.5" wide IIRC.
