Seeing as I've been a bit distracted (got a 4 month old here) I'm late on checkin these threads & glad you stepped in for me Erik. The LQ4 and LQ9 were what I was looking at putting in the supercab. Wish I woulda done it & kept the thing. Oh well. Interested to see what kind of power & then MPG you get out of the thing. Guys have reported 20ish MPG but those are more on street type rides.

I love the function 1st theme here and as you said - no brand loyalty really. Just the best part for the job at the best price is my deal.

LS3 in a Bronco is my dream ride. Love the AC, you will be able to hang meat in the cab.

Ive been able to put a few hundred miles on it now. Idle is a bit low and need to change trans lockup but all that will be done after the 1000.

Motor is stock LQ4/Vortec 6.0L from 05 Silverado 2500 with 160,000 miles. ECU from 02 Silverado 3500. Also have old throttle body with cable

Best highway on the stroker motor was 8.1mpg

Mix of city street and dirt saw 8.2 mpg
Highway run was about 9.4
Expect both to improve after dyno

Trans runs a little warm in the dirt as it has factory lockup settings. WIll fix after dyno and program

Power feel about the same as stroker. Torque is down. Should come up after dyno

Throttle response is crisp and instant, no lag like the stroker

New AC is awesome, I get the feeling it may need a bit more for 110+ but now that everything is done it will be super easy to add another evap and blower anywhere in the truck.

In general the swap wasnt bad, used the new Autofab ford/LS motor mounts. Had to relocate ac compressor as it hit the frame, also wanted dual alts. The belt is crazy long but the brackets were available off the shelf, no fabbing, just a little massaging to fit with cage.

Doug Throrly vortec short tube headers, no mods needed. Had to fab exhaust from headers to y pipe but that was expected.

Couple of small headaches caused delays like adapting custom steering to chevy shit, but overall it went quite smooth

Yanking out factory AC gave me room for big Donaldson powercore air filter, commonly used in agriculture and mining I think.

With huge factory condensor no long in front of the radiator the motor runs nice and cool. Has not been over 190 with heavy throttle and about 90 out.

Wont have HP/TQ numbers until after dyno in a few weeks. Loaded the truck is about 7200 pounds, so far I dont feel that its lacking power. Of course it could use more but it does not seem to need more. WIll have better idea after prerunning the 1000 next week.

I love the dual alt setup. My F350 has that provision for a second one from the factory. I saw on a F350 once, a 5000 watt alt kit with inverters to make the truck a generator.

Truck has about 1800 total miles with 250ish in the dirt now.

Overall it is fan f*cking tastic.

AC works great, heat even better.

Night and day difference between GW 2.0 and 3.0

The throttle response, driveability, shifting is all vastly improved. The truck may be 28 years old but with this setup it drives like a modern truck.

Stroker was really working hard to make the truck do 80 on fwy. LS still breathing easy at 85

2-3 MPG increase across the board. 9.9mpg was best hwy, 9.5 worst. 8.2 best prerun, 7.1 worst. Expect these to improve with dyno and reprogramming

Air filter works amazing. Ran through a few long siltbeds, Any about 200 miles of dirt, no fender liners of any kind. Minimal dirt was knocked out of the filter. It was spotless on the motor side

During the 1000 my original LQ4 was losing oil pressure. It got me home but after cutting open the oil filter we could see tons of metal, it was eating itself. LSX4u, who I bought it from was great though and shipped me a lower mileage LQ4 as a free replacement. They even offered an LQ9 but I didnt want the higher compression. Its nice to see a company stand behind their products these days, even when its an old junk yard motor.

New motor was shipped as a long block and we changed the timing chain, oil pumps and some other simple things before putting it in the truck.

The swap was finished last minute before the 1000 with no time to dyno and tune but I had a little time before Parker off it went to Dyno Comp in Scottsdale today.

I asked them to tune it safe and reliable for 87 and explained how it is often in remote areas of Mexico.

I am very pleased with the results. 280 HP and 340 torques at the wheels. Pretty good for a 150.000 mile yonke motor. Stock LQ4 is rated at about 320hp/360tq at the crank.
