I am going in tonight to install my new axles and test those springs out so I will let you know how it goes... the measurements you gave me were longer than what dave gave me so i should be fine on the axle length.. figure i have plenty of spline to cut them down if need be. what spring did you decide to try? i didn't do an outer spring because the d50 stub i got had a perfect boot on it so i figured why ditch it if i can just do an internal spring.

Had west coast differentials install the spring and tack weld the cap today.
Used a Chevy 350 v8 spring and with the axles from the extended kit
The spring had to be trimmed down about 25%.
Did have some. Possible damage on end of axle splines but the shop said
It's well engaged on the splines now, even after the spring trim.

Yes everything appears to be working with spring in the slip yoke. Jacked up the front end until the front tires hung off the ground and the axle stayed in the third member. Will strap it this weekend and that should prevent any dynamic overloading of the spring keeping the splines engaged in the third member.
Limitation on travel is the front center cv joint. Any one have pics of the trimming? My 14" coilover droop out to 10 1/2 " before center joint bind. Some of that is from the spring putting pressure and wiould back off under load. So have al least 2 1/2" more of droop to gain with trim. Pics anyone?

Winner , Bronco!!!

This taco driver hit a black bear and then
Lost control flipped and landed on his roof
Bet he wish he had caged it.

Its all good, cut it up and its a truggy haha. Cage should be number one but it a big pill to swallow for alot of folks. If not only for the safety but for perfomance and longevity of the vehicle too.

So, had a scary moment driving my newly
Running bronco to drop kids off at school
And hit the aligement shop later that day.
About 50 past my driveway I get on the brakes
As to not run over some wild turkeys crossing
The road I hear a bam and my brakes give out
Wondering what the F did I hit?? Was quickly replaced
With uh this think is going downhill and isn't stopping
Shifted it into neutral and there was just enuf
Brake left to stop me
I limped it back home in first and had it towed to
A real welding shop. No more of doing this
In my buddies garage. I need a safe and realliable rig.

Steering has had this odd bump / droop steer
Thing and had the ram remounted properly
And the pitman arm double sheared with side
Brace.

Also had this crazy vibration when just letting off the gas
Had the axle perches re aligned and new style put on

Now
steering is better, still some bugs. Driveline vibration gone, whew!
And brakes re mounted w 1/4 " plate.

Yes right rear caliper sheared off going about 15mph on a cold morning
Just pulled out of driveway. Not what I would think would put
A lot of stress on it.?
