Re: Another Bronco Build
Thanks Damon,
I wanted a plush go fast rig for camping and other outdoor sports.
So much of it is getting there and this type of rig opens up many new options.
Since the the additions of the front bumper, rear bumper and rock rails the frame feels much more stiff and with the extra weight
makes the suspension and steering work much better in cornering and overall road and off road handling.
I hope my build thread inspires others as I have been from all the build threads prior to me on GFB.
Looking forward to the continued evolution of ABB.

Any pics of the tent open?
Another Bronco Build
Ok so the RRT is something I've been wanting to do for some time but was always worried it was too much weight.
How does the bronco drive with all the weight up there? Does it have excessive body roll? I'm currently getting 10-11mpg and could only imagine it gets a lot worse with a massive air brake up there.
What springs do you currently have? The rear looks a little low. You have any plans to fix that?
Sorry for all the questions just very interesting to see someone put a RTT on such a big pig of a vehicle.

Re: Another Bronco Build
Corners 5-10% worse on street
10-15% worse on dirt. It's really not that noticeable.
You would think 130lbs on top of the roof would
Impare it more. In some ways makes the suspension set up for corners. I really don't push it, today was 2nd trip on dirt and I liked how it felt between 25-55 on the dirt In the corners.
Wow does the ttb shine in he dirt. Sooo plush!
Rear end droop has been a concern and may get the solo shackle mount drop. Those earlier pics was with the rear end on a downhill, but I do think it droops
Too much in the rear.
Mpg decline is negligible. Can't even tell its up there at highway speeds.
Btw this is the largest rrt made by tepui!

Re: Another Bronco Build
Oh
Rear springs r Q80s with threat shackles.
Plans to fix are the solo shackle drop kit.
Sleeping off the dirt is great. No bugs, snakes, bears bigfoots, chupacabras etc!
Sets up to sleep in In less than 5 minutes.
All the other stuff takes another 10 minutes( but not necessary too sleep in)
Oh and sleeping bags stay in tent, even when folded.

Glad too hear many of you like the idea of a RTT on a bronco. There wasn't much info on the net for Broncos and RTT, mostly toyotas and land rovers.

Re: Another Bronco Build
This is the wife's ride with the same tent as the bronco has on it. The LR4 is a great vehicle all the way around. But I wouldn't drive this vehicle even a quarter as fast as the bronco on rough dirt roads. Getting there is half the fun!

X2, this would be great for a few of the back country trips in the Sierras/Baja/Over landing trips.

Re: Another Bronco Build
Feels solid and safe to sleep in, and the ladder is very strong and can be set up to support the tent if you want.
My only concern is the fiberglass. It's plenty strong when your sleeping, my concern is bashing down a rough section and the dynamic loading that occurs.
Keenanduran your cage with through roof to rack appears very solid, that's what I would like to do next.
