Rear Bumper....

Here is my rear bumper all finished up. Kinda robbed ideas from a bunch of you guys do thanks :-) They say no one has an original thought -- that may or may not be true Anyway thanks- Yikes, Kelfab and Threat and some of my own inspiration -- LOL!!! I was going for tubular, something that protect the corners in a parking lot and if I did have to tow something the chains/wiring plug actually have something to hook to. The plug mount is just the stock piece butchered up an welded on to the back support bar.

I am debating putting the "abre cerveza aqui" on the rear bumper. I think its kinda cool because of the old Corona TT had one --I least I would swear to thinking it did!! :-) I am just not wanting to give every swinging dick popo a reason to pull me over-- here are the two places I have thought about putting this............ speak up please :-)

Having something random, & not having one on the other side (non symmetrical), jumps out to my eye. I used to drive around a fully caged Toyota with a bottle opener, just had it tucked in the bed cage so it was out of the way. I never got hassled.

Thanks Robert! A cage is sooooo far off into the sunset. I do want a spare tire mount on the inside that uses one of those "Y" hold-down straps---- maybe I can figure out a way to put it there!

Yea I love that idea of having it visible but I just might be the minority :)

Saginaw Pump Upgrades

Scored a saginaw bracket, pump and pulley at a yard already pulled for $35. The steering box and the pump were a stock rebuild. Cleaned up the bracket, and added some "tinted" clear-coat to make it a little prettier :-) Never been a fan of stock steering hoses-- added the -6AN fittings to the box and pump so future upgrades like coolers or rams are super easy to plumb. An added benefit is I know the quality of the hoses.

AN fittings to the factory cooler loop. Isn't that like lipstick on a pig? Haha just teasing. I like the painted bracket. I may have to do mine when its torn apart next time. I notice a big difference in steering feel when ps fluid is hot with my juiced up sag pump. Either a cooler/filter/reservoir is needed on mine. I am using plane jane atf in the thought process that that's what ill find in the middle of no where to repair a leak, so that'll affect it somewhat as well.

I've wondered about that cooler look and if it actually did anything?? I had the extra tube nuts/sleeves and a 37* flaring tool so I figured what the hell :-) The one good thing about the steel return line is that you can point one of the infrared temp guns at it to get an idea on the temps.

Took her out to get an alignment but they want it back Friday morning instead-- the Big O really wasn't totally sure how the hell to work with the cams until I gave them the info ... LOL!! I am about 30 miles from Phoenix so Big O it is. Not really sure If I should just save me the $150 and do the alignment myself. The entire steering system is new-- drop pitman, ambulance, upgrade, suspension- I would kind of like an exact caster readout more than anything. At this point I have a decent positive camber issue with a C&T I did. At this point I am really not sure how to align the wheel and all the rest.

Took the pic from inside a Taco Bell while gazing out at some of my handiwork :-)

What lower coil spring mounts did you end up using? Congrats on getting her back on the road!

Still have the factory lower ones. I think tomorrow I'm going to fab something to bring the coil down a touch. I think not getting the "professional" alignment is a blessing of sorts. Ryan, have you ever done your own alignment??

No i take it to a shop. Burning through tires at 300 a pop or 75 to make sure its done right is a no brainer to me. 150 for an alignment sounds high unless theyre swaping your cams.

Unfortunately "done right" at a shop is not always the case.

Around here I (or most of you guys on this board) have more knowledge of how to do this stuff than the kids they have working in the tire shops. A mom and pop type shop that's been doing it for years - yeah, they'll do it right I'm sure. But the chains around here throw it on the computerized rack & get it close. Often times they don't even know what to adjust to get it right (or even close) if the truck comes in way out of spec...

Long travel Bronco's are a bitch to align. If you have an alignment shop do it, tell them to drive slowly into their shop from a straight shot, and to do it all in one motion (no backing up). If you blip the throttle, come around a turn to quick, or pull in too far and back up, it can all mess with your alignment setting on what they think is ride height.
