Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
So i got the truck moved back inside shop to start shredding on it again, i bolted everything up and slid my temp. extended axles in to check length and make sure there is no bind. I really thought i was gonna get by without having to clock the third member. but it bound on the drivers side. got the third member clocked and no more bind. crazy just how little it takes to bring it back to spec. so hopefull i can get beams and radius arms finished shortly.

Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
Got some more done today, got drivers beam unibal cup tacked in! My hole saw went kapuit while drilling it out so I reverted to a cutoff wheel and the torch. Also stared the v2 of my radius arms. Slowly but surely she is getting there! Passenger has 7 degrees of caster at ride height. 11 degrees of caster at bump and 3 at full droop!

I'd seat that cup in further (compare it to the bushing) otherwise it might cause other interference issues.

Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
Yeah that's the plan after i tacked it i was looking at it and realized i should've seated it farther in due to trying to move my wheelbase as far forward as possible. thanks for the heads up!AussieRod wrote:I'd seat that cup in further (compare it to the bushing) otherwise it might cause other interference issues.

Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
Was having issues with the dana 50 passenger beam and the axles binding due the the dana 50 beam not being as tall as a 44. Plus the the 50 beam is 5/16s thick. Gonna plate it back and I should have sufficient clearances for the axles.otter wrote:WTF?

Glad it sounds like you have a solution. I'm interested to see the end result. I had forgotten about yours being grafted beams. Good luck brother.

Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
Yeah the drivers beam turned out tits. The passenger beams are the same geometry between both the dana 44 vs dana 50. But the dana 50 has less axle clearances. It cycled fine until I extended 4 inches. So I will cycle it until I have enough travel and re plate beam bottoms.Rmc wrote:Glad it sounds like you have a solution. Re: Project Double Trouble/Drew's Bronco
So my next set of dana 50 beam will go so much smoother, my plan after this thing is driving is to start drawing the beams in cad from scratch. using the geometry i want and just cut it all out on plasma table. This gives me somewhere to stretch my CAD drawing skills as well as play with the idea of an equal length dana 50 ttb. So much time into this front suspension cant wait to get it back on the road and put some miles on it.
For those of you guru's
My caster is set at 8 degree's at ride height, at what i believe to be full droop it looks to be around 1 or 2 degrees, and at bump it goes to 12 degrees.
my question is is that acceptable? i forgot to measure stock, but i know most people build more caster into their beams.
