Re: Tina Turner
sounds like a solid baja adventure. Thanks for the tip on the front wheel drive option, i'll definitely tuck that lil piece of info away and hope to never have to use it!

That's one heck of a trip! Not surprised about the front wheel drive. There was an episode of on the American version of top gear where they destroy a beautiful bronco but they drove it in front wheel drive for 90% of the trip.

As others have said - sounds like a fun/typical baja adventure.
The 4wd "trick" is cool and is why I am twin sticking the 205 t-case in my '74. Allows me to drive each axle separately if needed. Perfect for when something goes wrong out back and you need to get home. Kind of a bummer the 1356 t-cases aren't set up the same way. Still, removing the rear driveshaft isn't super hard & still gets the same thing accomplished.

Re: Tina Turner
Glad you made it home ok. I had to do the same thing with my old Bronco except at the time it was daily driver and ended driving it that way for about a month. Steered like shiiiaaat , but made heads turn when you stabbed it off the line at traffic signals, Haahaa.
Fyi, R.Acers chase truck hit a COW! I passed them at one of the Military check points as they were rolling through with the truck on the flat bed. Kind of jacked up the brand new cheby. We had a few close calls are self with some horses.

Re: Tina Turner
Crazy story. At least you made it back with the truck whole.
Re: Tina Turner
Tina's finally back up and rolling again. I had started another thread trying to figure out which direction to go when I got home from Mex. I ended up getting a whole new 3rd member built. I did 4:88's, big bearing, nodular housing, and the True Trac. I was gonna do the install in the driveway, but didn't wanna open up a huge can of worms. I'm glad I didn't. CHO took care of the install (thank you) and also found a couple of driveline issues that needed to be addressed.
I drove her home on the freeway and around town a bit this am and I couldn't be happier. The TrueTrac is a dream compared to the spool and the fixed driveline issues quieted things up dramatically.
So, now that she's driveable again I'm gonna start doing some detail oriented stuff. Gonna get the power door locks working, new window seals, install my new AC compressor, build a center console and get some paint on her.
Stoked to be rolling again. I'll post some pics if I throw paint at her this weekend.

Awesome, stoked to hear you are diggin the TruTrac in the rear!! I imagine going from a spool to that is a big difference.

The black looks awesome!! I wish they made the AR23 in a 17.
Re: Tina Turner
Finally got my wheels machined and threw em on Tina. She's looking tough now. Headed down tomorrow for the 500. Giddy up.

Dustin, She looks amazing! Thanks for giving her the love she deserves. Hell, give it a few years I might buy her back.
