economig wrote:Agreed, interior looks really good. I forgot the ranger sold. Edgeracer (Chris) told me about it but i haven't even lurked the classifieds on DR the last couple weeks. I liked that truck a lot. Hope you guys did good on the ranger.

Oh yeah, my buddy that bought your guys' other Bronco, awhile after i bought your SAWs, F53's and coil kits, when we met up in Norco, he did a lot of work to it and it's running really good. He just put new BFGs on it and brought it to his river pad. He's stoked.

yes we sold the white ranger and we will miss it very much. it was by far the nicest and cleanest offroad truck ive ever owned. it just wasnt practical with having our son. Plus we have a house in borrego springs we spend alot of time at during the winter so the bronco is a better choice.

im super stoked to hear your buddy is takin good care of "wintergreen" haha. the wife has a thing for naming every vehicle. id love to see some pics of it.
BajaBronco13 wrote:I dig that color. Not very common. Are you going to be painting the glass to match the oem paint? Nice Bronco by the way.

Chris
yes the color is definately different. i havent seen another bronco this color. I am eventually going to paint it once i have all the bugs worked out. not sure on the color yet but it will get painted. thanks for the compliment, i am super happy with how its turning out.

That's so funny cause your guys' names are still so similar. They're totally NOT into strip clubs & stuff but they named it the "Spearmint Rhino" lol

This was right after they got it all tuned up and put new shoes on her but she had been sitting at mechanic's yard awhile so it was dirty. She's all cleaned up now but i don't have any other pics. They bought some stuff for it, i'll get some more pics soon

hell yes! that is an awesome name. i wish i would of thought of that. tires look awesome. i cant wait till he gets a gofast account and starts a build thread.... man i love broncos...

i bought some new seats. i figured fixed back seats would be a little more safe in a full caged vehicle... besides the recliners are useless now that i have 5 points. people still have to crawl through the center to get in the back.

Ha ha :D

For some reason, any girl's name, beer reference or large beast of the field seems to fit well with Broncos...

e.g. "Silver Bullet!" ha ha

ok so i took it out to the desert for the first time in over a year. pretty happy with how it performed... needs alot of little things but hey.... it never ends.

one big issue im having is how it runs under heavy load. if im on a steep grade and i give it more throttle the bronco down shifts like most cars do to accelerate up the hill. well if i hold it at a high RPM going up a grade the bronco starts to make a sound like an exhaust leak on the passenger side and it will loose power. it will get progressively worse until it almost wont drive at all and will idle really bad. i have to turn the truck off and restart it and it will drive fine. this only happens under heavy load going up grades like on the 241 toll road or cajon pass.

i dont have any smog equipment anymore as the awesome guys from AZ removed everything  . it no longer has cats, smog pump and thermactor tube.

any ideas what this could be?

You ALMOST look like you need a longer shackle. The springs look like they're S'd, could just be the angle?

It's more than I allow my springs to do. Not sure about others.

And yes, a slightly longer shackle might help with this a bit. But it will lower the ride height if you don't move the shackle hanger down a bit too.

What benefit did you receive from moving the shock to the leaf spring? Is that a common modification when going through the floor with shocks?

Shocks out further toward the wheel give more lateral stability at speed. It is common in desert trucks, and yes common when going through the floor in the broncos as it keeps more of the cargo area in the middle clear.

Running the shocks thru the floor allows them to run almost vertical and use the full length to dampen and makes it easier to valve and tune by better motion ratio, rather than the angle mounting underneath reducing the shaft and valve speed at full compression. Moving them outboard allows better wheel control and like Steve said, keeps the cargo area clearer.

So I finally have some updates... After taking the bronco out to lucerne in August I noticed it bottoming out real hard.

I ended up buying some saw 2.0x2" bump stops and cans. I had my buddy install them on the bronco. He is thinking about making it a kit. Super happy with how it turned out.

While I had the bronco apart I sent my springs to deaver to have them turned into Q80s. Boy does it sit super tall now. Anyways I hope after driving it a bit the springs will settle...

Here are a couple pics of the new rear setup

The bump can kit is a good call.
Notice a stiffer ride with the q80?

Ok I have noticed it ride a little stiffer... Here is my bronco with the q80s installed. This is without any cargo or spare tire and only a 1/4 tank of fuel
