It's nice to finally know where the wheel base is going to be. I now know that my buddies trailing arms will work for me.

Looks good! Are you going to fill in the shell window or make it one lrg. one? I always thought it would be kind of cool to make it some kind of wing vent to get some ventilation for the rear passengers.

Going to fill it, this truck is my inspiration. He left a window in it, I did a little photoshop action.

I think it would look so much better if the window was kept the same size but centered over the wheel well. But that would be a lot of work for a just looks.

I agree with you on that. The cool part about what I'm doing is the shell will still be removable. Maybe one day I'll tackle that

Any plans to mold off these bedsides when complete, or is it a one and done deal?

I'd say just a 1 and done. That mold would collect a lot of dust!

Oh, but how sweet it would be any time they were dusted off! I figured as much. Looking great man, keep the progress pics coming.

Travisfab wrote:The notch to move the tank is not a huge deal if you're caging the truck. You can just only do so much with these trucks.
On a caged truck, if you ran a piece of 2x2 sqaure tube inside the cab that bolts to the body mounts, would that be enough support to allow a 4" notch in the rear body crossmember?

If you were to run horizontal tubes parallel to the rear window line and plate them to the cab, I think that would be enough. 4" is pushing it though, you're getting really close to the back of the cab at that point.

On a side note, my direction on the build has changed a bit. Since I have the Explorer now for a comfortable family cruiser, I've decided to make the Bronco a dedicated dirt truck. I'm not going to build the cage so much for comfort and storage space, and more for simplicity and strength. No carpet, no stereo, just flat out performance! My son is two now and is getting close to being able to help out in the garage. I'd like to finish it up as a father some project.
