95 Bronco Build!

Post by philofab »

There is a crossmember in front of and behind the tank. Both crossmembers are the same stamping and support where the body mounts are. There is also this major body crossmember that actually creates the clearance issue when moving the tank back. It supports the tailgate and top, so care should be taken if you trim or modify it.

How would you clearance then reinforce this if you wanted to move the tank back all the way?

Do you have any pics of how you did it Travis?

What about picking up a spare tank and notching it that way you don't have to cut the support? Would lose less than a gallon in capacity and it would be a piece of sheet metal with a 90* bend.

The notch to move the tank is not a huge deal if you're caging the truck. You can just only do so much with these trucks.

Everything is a compromise. But Ivery always wanted to see a bronco with the same body width but a stretched wheel base. I just reread Kelly's build specs. looks like you could put the bronco right at 110.5". 1.5 in front and 4" in the rear. I think it would be really awesome!!

Can I ask why you're mounting your trailing arms on the outside of the frame rail vs. underneath?

The frame is going to be close to dragging the ground at full bump. I need as much clearance as I can get.

Doing some work on my bedsides. Like I said in a previous post, the F150 bedsides have way too much over hang behind the wheel well. You can see how much less over hang the Bronco bedsides. I'm basically going to use the tail light area and wheel well from Bronco bedsides, as well as the front strip. Give me a few days and these 2 bedsides will become one!
