Slappy Style Go Fast with Dana 44/50 hybrid beams....

Post by powa_ranga »

Dont be surprised if this thing gets a full F250 7.3/ZF6 front/rear axle swap when I am done robbing it of what I need...my buddy already built one and has donor trucks waiting if he decides to do it.

Glad to hear you got a new motor in so quick. Can’t wait to hear how she runs.

Thanks man, I got some solid buddies that help a lot...just cost me alot in beer and whiskey haha

Very close to firing it up, just gunna wire all this stuff while leaving room to tidy it up and route it later (wire routing plan is in my head lol) so I can fire this thing up already.

All thats left for startup:
*Reinstall starter and wire basic temporary alternator/ign circuit
*Finish connecting FItech harness (about 10 wires left)
*Heater bypass hose
*Wire secondary wideband for extra insurance (1 relay, the rest is plug and play)
*New Oil filter/Oil
*Set base fuel pressure

Maybe this weekend, maybe not lol

Fired it up last night, wasn't getting spark, after lots of testing and troubleshooting I bypassed my msd box and blaster 2 coil, changed parameters in the FItech and hooked up a factory coil, she started right up immediately. Video is on instagram under @bajakyle

That’s great, glad you have it running. Hopefully it’s nice and smooth the rest of the way. You deserve some good luck!

After hearing your MSD issues I am glad I’m going to be able to go right back to stock when the MSD craps out- and it will surely crap out!

I made a separate harness from my weatherpak kit for a quick swap, after that its just one parameter in the controller to atleast make it run if it needs to be limped anywhere

It’s funny how the MSD box is arguably the best ignition box you can get at least for the masses. They should be ashamed that their product which is one of the industry standards is such a POS that we go to the effort to wire in the factory ignition when their product certainly shits out!

MSD's are not the only multiple spark ignitions out there. I had very good luck with the Crane HI-8 on the Barge. Welded around it, ran the battery low, submerged it and it never missed a beat. Just do not play with the plug wires while it's running, the zap it gives out will make your whole arm go numb.

After a quick search I see they no longer make that model. Shame, it worked well.

Strangely, I've never has a problem with MSD products, except for a local 1988 F truck the owner wanted fitted with a complete (Mustang based) MSD kit. It would NOT get spark, or fire at all, until I went back to the factory set-up. I'm guessing due to the TFI module type and/or positional changes on some trucks and Broncos, the MSD may not be compatible. I used the coil, leads, etc and the truck ran much better, but the 6AL box wouldn't co-operate. Sorry to go off topic, just my 2 cents.

Got the shocks back from rebuild and threw them on, moved the rear coilover resi's, scratched putting the blue bedsides on since the new 8" flares are done (just need to make a trip to SD from Sac to get them) ...built an intake for now, spent countless nights after work doing weatherpak connectors and wiring everything, basically hoping to just stay at it and drive it soon.

Started getting back into this pile of bolts, I know the 4wd works in the driveway. Got some other side projects out of my hair, still working on alot of mechanical sidework while maintaing a career and fam stuff, I am trying to get back to the Bronco. I can say for certain I am looking for a better alternative to Optimas, even with a trickle charger on them all the time and charging through a wet battery if I need they just don't come back to life. These are a little over 3 years old, I have had like a baker's dozen of vehicles with optimas in every color, daily driven, projects, toys, etc...doesnt matter they suck cock. Besides that, once it fires up she runs like a champ.ImageImageImage
