Firetwig's 1991 Bronco

Post by Firetwig »

Bronco
Bio:
I am the second owner of this vehicle, my grandfather originally purchased it new and I have spent the majority of my life in this vehicle. I remember sleeping in the back of it on road trips as a child, and sitting in the passenger seat playing with his CB stuff as he drove through what seemed to me at the time as some of the most aggressive terrain ever when we went through his land. He had promised it to me and he kept his word. Sadly, it sat for a couple of years in a enclosed shelter before I got it and needed freshened up. The engine fired up great but the transmission didn't come to par for my grandfather, so to be on the safe side he rebuilt the transmission before he gave it to me. Of course, it made a ten hour trip perfectly after driving in around town for a few days. Still just as reliable. When I got it home the first thing I did was full ignition tune up (Sixlitre tune-up) and Seafoamed it. Now it has had a slow restoration into it's more or less original state but with added goodies. I had to replace the trans again after eleven months of use but it's still worth it in the long run.

  • Sixlitre tune-up

  • Installed BajaHid.com HIDs. (TCM GLX)
  • Sound Ordnance P65 front speakers
  • Kenwood KFC-C6893PS rear speakers

These are my Warn Premium Manual hubs I replaced my auto hubs with.

This is a C02 tank from a Pepsi machine for airing up my tires after I lower the pressure. I got it for free from some Jeep guys.

This is my "rebuilt" trans after I dropped it in a friend's shop:

$998.00 later and it was back on the road with a "new" low-mile E4OD that I replaced seals and etc.

Here are the HIDs I got from TCM GLX:

This is the exhaust mocked up:

I never installed the catalytic converter nor will I.

I wrapped my Pacesetter's and installed them:

My thoughts? Looks good, sound's good... OH MY FLAMING ARMS! I never want to install headers on a 20 year old truck again. Broke two bolts and what a PITA. Manifolds came out fine though. Y-pipe is installed and just open pipe until I can get my x-pipe and finish up. Don't have time until I get to AR sadly.

I kinda want to wrap my y-pipe...

I grabbed a roll-bar from a junkyard Bronco cheap...
This is not my picture, but too dark to get so I'm borrowing somebody else' image of the same item.

Apparently everyone thinks mine should be painted red and it's a toss-up between red or the factory black.

That's all for now, and don't expect any updates for a long, long time. I am now currently un-employed because I am moving and slow to buy "mods..."

Hey Andrew that is you right? i Posted my 347 project over on Introductions i guess i need to move it over here. Your truck is super clean by the way! You like the HIDs ? i put some 6k in about a year ago i love em.. I might want to add projectors to get the light out there better tho if i ever get done with this other junk. I need to get some warn hubs like yours where you pick em up at? 4wp JBG something like that? And seriously get a sound clip up of that exhaust!

Let's see, A/C got stripped out completely, A/C Eliminator pulley installed from Summit Racing.

Got tired of blown speakers and the stock tape-deck radio couldn't sufficiently push the volume loud enough for straight-pipe on an always topless Bronco...
