Re: Brian's '96
Funny thing about replacing parts...one begs another. While replacing the water pump it only made sense to go ahead and replace the timing cover gasket, which meant the balancer had to come off, which I was doing anyway and consequently, this all meant I may as well replace the timing chain, since the whole package was open. The timing cover was looking bad, much like the rest of the old tired engine, so it got a good washdown in the blast cabinet and then it only made sense to pull the thermostat housing and give it a similar cleansing. All said, makes the rest look really bad. Haha!
Finished cutting the air ports in the skidplate. Pleased with how it came out.

I stared at the engine for 15min thinking...now would be the perfect time to pull it. Unfortunately the bank account disagrees. Pinche!

What size brake rotor are you using on your water pump?

What's with that oil cooler set up? I don't think mine has that.

Fabbed a double sheer mount for the steering. Should have the mount built by next weekend, but will be waiting on the pump from Howe to wrap things up. Tommy Lee has retired.
Swapped out the clear corners for the OG units. Really love the way Taylor's set up looks, so robertcrav has ordered an led bar to match. Can't wait to get it!

Re: Brian's '96
How about you go wider on the beams? That shock mount is what caused it. Seems to me it's too close of proximity to the upper beam end. Well that and your an animal when you drive lol. Did you position it there due to the fat diameter of the 3.0?

Re: Brian's '96
You mean 4.0...and yes. When I fab'd the mounts, I was trying to leave room for a bump centered on the beam, which is the ideal location to prevent a torsional load. The objective was to minimize stress on the radius arm bolts to reduce the chance of them loosening up over time. Anyway, in hindsight I agree the mount could be moved a bit inboard...considering I never got to putting bumps on. Haha! Would love to go wider and likely will in the future. Still working on the whole kids divided by time, multiplied by money situation.Rmc wrote:How about you go wider on the beams? That shock mount is what caused it.
