Re: Scott's 96' Interceptor
The Bronco's been done and driving for a little over a week now. Didn't do good with progress pics as I was busy busy busy getting the whole thing done in 2 days. Everything went too smoothly putting it together. Never broke a sweat taking this thing apart, it's one clean Bronco!
Only problems were the lack of caster as mentioned in the Super Duty Radius Arm thread and my pinion angle was off giving me some pretty bad vibration. Fixed that with new perches welded at the correct angle and eliminated the wedge block. Gonna need a set of shackles too, as it sits a little too high in the rear still, but it still seems to be settling.
I haven't gotten it offroad yet, but have taken it across some rough backroads and it floats pretty good! Can't wait to get it in the sand.
So here's how it sits now:
Rear - 8.8 Axle, 4.56 gears, Detroit TrueTrac, Deaver Springs, Bilstein 5100's, new perches welded at correct angle, stock brakeline (unclipped from frame).
Front - Cut & Turned Beams from BajaScott, Super Duty 2wd radius arms modified for more caster, factory SD pivot mounts, Rancho 4" coils and Bilstein 5100 using the factory lower shock mount on the super duty arm. (Using this mount uses the full stroke of the 4" lift 5100, has a 1/4" shaft left at full compression.
Next up is limit straps, Aux 5100 for the front, shackles and 4.56 gears in the front to match the rear.

Looks good. You might consider changing the lower front shock mount. The bushing will last much longer if you put the bushing in phase with the beam/radius arm assembly.

I like the superduty radius arms. They look good.

Copy that. Easy enough to weld some shock tabs on.SteveG wrote:Looks good. You might consider changing the lower front shock mount. The bushing will last much longer if you put the bushing in phase with the beam/radius arm assembly.

Yup. Ideally, they would be perpendicular to an imaginary line between the radius arm and beam pivots.CBDuner wrote:Copy that. Easy enough to weld some shock tabs on.

Re: Scott's 96' Interceptor
I'm officially in LOVE with my budget GoFast Bronco!! Finally got it out in the sand today. Been so busy and fixing minor issues that I haven't had a chance to get it out and play. No pics or vid. But it's by far the best handling and riding truck I've driven out there. Far cry from all the straight axle trucks I had always played with!

Re: Scott's 96' Interceptor
Would love to! But I don't know if I can afford to go anywhere this summer. Gas just hit $4 tonight at the Chevron south of town! We'll see, we were definitely talking about it. Bring the Bronco and my dad wants to take his RZR XP900.bajascott wrote:GOOD TO READ! you'll have to plan on heading over to eastern oregon in june with us and see how it does in the desert!!
