I'm really happy you posted this. I have a '78 XLT Ranger that I want to prerunner and make it NORRA legal to run the Mexican 1000. I've been gleaning info about the Moss Bros. rig from various sites and forums trying to get ideas on my build because they seem to have got the recipe right. It's nice to see I'm not the only one to want to build a straight axle desert rig.

Cheers.

Was that the propane powered one?

Nice. I'd like to hear some specs on your build. It looks very clean. Is that an autofab drop center hood? My 78 just went back in the shop for its final suspension and odds and ends, I'll snap some pics when were done in a few weeks.

No, that was his F-150 he raced after he totaled this Bronco in a crash and Bend Oregon.

Baja Dale yes I'm from up north but on the East side, the province of Québec. Concerning your dads Bronco is it full fiberglass? The hood on it look's like the one I made for my Bronco. I drop the hood down with an 81 Bronco centerpiece and made a mold for future pieces. Regarding the Bronco ,what kind of motor and mods did he do to make it raceable?

78CLASS3 as for my Bronco, it’s powered by a 460 with standard mods, head porting, cam, intake, carb etc. The transmission is TCI built reverse valve body E4OD low gears etc. The front suspension is a 3 link and the back has a 4 link with king shocks and bump stops all around. Gearing is 4.10 but soon to be 5.13 with the 37BFG’s. Detroit rear and posi. Front.

I will try to post pics. of the suspension. If some of you have converted your 78-79, please post your creations. As for the Moss Bros., how about showing me your trac bar modifications. and congats on your 2010 Baja 1000 victory.
