Made it to KOH and did the Mohave Road back home to AZ. Stopped at the monument on the lake bed and placed a rock in memorial for Pistol Pete. Stayed the night in Laughlin Saturday. Sunday morning on the way home home the Torque Converter Clutch wouldnt engage and the trans began to warm up due to the converter not locking up. Pulled over 4 different times between laughlin and wickenberg to let it cool and damage anything further. Put the bronco on a tow truck and headed home. I hit 200k miles on the way to KOH and that's my magic number to pull the motor and stroke it to a 408w. With the trans issue I'll pull that also and have it gone through to make sure it can handle the new motor. It goes under the knife March 14th.

Bummer on the trans, do you run a separate trans team gauge Ryan?

I'm obd2 so I run a scan gauge2 to monitor trans and water temps. Comes in handy to pull codes and reset the money light. That's how I knew the converter clutch wasn't engaged. Code P1744

I need to pick up a scan gauge then, because I’m obd2 as well.

Got the interior gutted and pressure washed the hell out of it. 23 years of abuse and this carpet kit is shot so I will be ordering a new one. New poly body bushings from Energy will be going in also. Any particular company I should use for the carpet kit? Looking for suggestions.

I purchased the grey carpet kit from bronco graveyard. It is a good fit and molded perfectly. I purchased the front portion only, down fall was shipping was costly.

Vinyl floor just sucks though. It's easy to clean, but It just feels austere. Carpet is lux.

I got carpet in the passenger area with mass backing and ordered the extra foil backed sound and heat barrier that's all pre cut and formed. For the back and wheel wells I got vinyl and 2 extra whole sheets of the foil backed padding to put under the vinyl. I'll pick up some fat mat for vibrations too. Shipping was not cheap...

Oof, you weren't kidding about the shipping!
I like the pre-cut EVA stuff they sell.

I passed on the EVA and went for the foil and jute instead since I got the mass backing on the carpet and peel n stick CLD tiles for the rattles.

Ah that makes sense if you got CLD tiles separately. Eagerly awaiting your results. Sounds like you’re going to have a very thick plush floor lolRyanDS650X wrote:I passed on the EVA and went for the foil and jute instead since I got the mass backing on the carpet and peel n stick CLD tiles for the rattles.

We got all the fluids drained and the core support out. Today we pull the motor and trans. Wish me luck!

Take the bumper and valance as well, it means you won't have to lift the whole ass'y so high to clear.

It all came out in one shot. Had to pull the motor mount frame support on the passenger side because of the jumbo trans pan but it's out and on the floor. Time to purple power, sand and paint.
