Based on how long mine is taking me.... I assume it was started in 1990 when it rolled off the assembly line..so 23 years give or take a few months.Rmc wrote:Out of curiosity how long did it take you to build this?

This thing was done in less than 2 years if I'm not mistaken & I'd dare to be closer to 18 months. That's a far fetch from my 10 year plus ranger or 5 year crew

Re: Michael Cox's Street Queen
Actually not. That was the quickest part of the job. It was one of the last big Fab jobs and I just got in there and knocked it out. I think the panels took 2 or 3 weeks. Definatly rushed and not as nice as it coulda been. I really didn't care cause I just wanted the truck done and figured that tin would be covered up with carpet at some point.Rmc wrote:A lot of time in the panel work, I see the love.
The original idea of how the sheet metal would be changed dramatically once I got started.
One of my friends "nick" we will call him. Used to build the elaborate bodies for Jeff Davis back in the day.
Nick really got me on the right path for the starting of the tin when I was stuck. He came up with the wheel well tin that has a few brakes on different planes. The tin is actually .050" 4130 believe it or not.
Andy (slvrslk) on here came and helped we had a lil assembly line. He would make some templates and then we would stomp em' out. Or vice versa. It worked out and now I owe him a big favor one day.

About 2 yrs start to finish.
I built between 5 or 6 complete race cars in that time and took up a few hobbies I shouldn't have. Which deffinatly slowed process.
One was Rc cars
Another was a ATC 70 I put A 125 cc engine in.
Motorcycle riding
And tuesday nighttime attack events in a road race car.
And beer
My girlfriend thought I was breaking up with her cause I told her I needed a break to finish my truck.... lol
I had to stop doing everything and really focus on finishing the truck.

Ya I thought I could link it in 3 months how it sat from where it started and that just snowballed out of control. Then one of my customers wanted to buy the front end that was on the truck and I couldn't resist selling that.ChaseTruck754 wrote:not at all!
My original decision to link the truck was because I broke a u joint on the rear drive line,
I figured I would have to build a new drive line if I linked it so why do it twice. Lol what a bad decision. Lol
Re: Michael Cox's Street Queen
Such clean work. I really like how the cage kicks down in the rear. Definitely motivational!

Re: Michael Cox's Street Queen
Sounds like my f150, cage turned into an engine and trans aka fuel management system due to catching the computer on fire. Then I decided to link it and back half it. Then wider beams which turned into a front clip ect. Funny how a tiny snowball becomes an avalanche.

Re: Michael Cox's Street Queen
My 86 Bronco's Go-faster project started with a fender Bender on Ice up at Big Bear Lake. Instead of replacing the metal fenders, I put Autofab 92 conversion Fiberglass. From there, the avalanche began.
The Bronco is looking great!!!!!!
