Re: My 95
Notice I said "tieing", not welding.
I'm all for a cage/body structure than can be disconnected from the frame. But I do think it needs to be connected to the frame in some way.
I was just wondering if the cage was tied into the frame at all (or if it was gonna be later) or if the cage was just welded to the floor plates that bolted to the body and that was it.

A lot of people! I picked up a fully caged Toyota cab and frame for a grand. I've seen a ton of caged chassis/cabs for sale that were nicely built for under $2500. Having a cage built, and then trying to sell it, is basically like cutting all your dollars right in half (or more!). Just my opinion/observation

Re: My 95
yup. That's the reason my ranger is still here after all these years. A caged chassis that would cost $10k at a fab shop is hard to sell for even $5k. And that's with $3k or so worth of parts going with it...

Re: My 95
There's truth in that statement, unless its sold complete and running you'll lose your ass on chassis unless your well known. A guy could save a fortune and a gang of time and effort if they got a decent chassis that's been nicely caged.Travisfab wrote:Tanner287 wrote:who wants a stock caged bronco... No one haha

Re: My 95
That's why I just plan to keep it because no one will pay me what I want haha. But I have it up just incase someone does. If I knew what I know now a year ago I would have bought a nicely built done truck. Seeing it with the cage done makes me want to finish it so bad haha. Especially when the seats are mounted and I can sit in it I'm going to want it done so bad

Well, I got everything figured out with solo motorsports, they are going to finish the bronco for me. They thought they could get in sometime in January. Pretty happy it will finally be finished haha

Re: My 95
Just waiting till January 18th... Looking at all my parts haha.
I wish solo had a spot open now I'm ready to get it done.
The other fab shop did awsome work but I think a year and 3 months is a little long to get a cab cage with no shock or seat mounts done haha. And it's not like it was cheap $$ wise.
I wish I had the knowledge to do it myself but I want it to be nice and safe so I'd rather let someone do it for me

Re: My 95
Not to offend you but I agree, it's taking your fabricator quite a while. I've gotten nearly as far as you in a month @ 2hrs a night. I'm glad to see your keeping it and I'm glad it's near completion. The quality of work looks good too so don't take me wrong. I'm really wanting to see your next steps after you get it out of there. Congrats on the progress it looks rad!

Re: My 95
Oh don't worry man your not offending me at all. The cage should have been a two to three month job.
It was literally there for all of 2013. I took it in November of 2012 and I will finally be picking up this week and trust me it will never be going back into that shop again.
I just kinda got myself into a situation where I became friends with the guy, had already paid him upfront for the whole cage, and he just kinda took advantage of me and put it off since we were friends and I wasn't going to like sue him I mean we live in the same small town and I had tried to get my truck out before and him give me money back but he said he wouldn't give me any money. But oh well what's done is done I should be enjoying a finished bronco right now but iv got confidence solo will finish this up right and in good time
