I can’t stress enough to put new carpet and a new headliner in a these trucks. - 25+ years of ill fitting window seals, some dudes BO or whatever got left in the cab— new smells new, and you get to clean the layer of dust out behind which also smells good.

Yeah, I was a little wish washy after seeing $500+ for full kits, but it’s less than $300 on RockAufo, so I’ll be ordering al new ACC carpet soon.

Gonna do Medium Mocha, since that's the color of my interior now. I like the full tan interior.biggiek wrote:What color you getting for the eddie bauer trim? Any of the extra matting/deadening? Vinyl piece for csrgo?
I will be putting down closed cell foam and mass vinyl on the side panels and floor before i put carpet back.

Desolate Stage 1.5 picked up today, went with dual 5100's. Super excited to get my truck put back together and get this all installed. I think i can grab the redhead steering pump and throw in the Desolate Saginaw conversion while i'm there, as i'll be replacing all of the steering components with their HD moog kit.

yessir! The only option i didn't add was the radium arm bracket crossmember, but i can add that on down the road.hobbyturnedobsession wrote:Looking good! Is that the 2" leveling kit they have?

I also picked up their tuffy console extension. IT's a pretty slick kit!

That'll work! Although I don't think you may need it. Your shocks should be your limiting factor. The radius arms shouldnt max out.

They won't, and Desolate includes limit straps with this kit.hobbyturnedobsession wrote:That'll work! Although I don't think you may need it. Your shocks should be your limiting factor. The radius arms shouldnt max out.

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
Ordered full replacement carpet for the interior and tailgate.
Ordered all 4 speakers and an amp. gonna wire it all up while i have the carpet out.
Been fighting the damn transmission solenoid plug for a few days. Without dropping the exhaust or the trans, the plug is almost impossible to reach. Realized that the trans cover from the interior was right above it. My carpet is already out, so i just popped the panel off, and presto, plug was right there, came off in moments. Pulled the solenoid out. The connector and o-ring, even down into the trans were covered in grit and nasty stuff. No wonder it's leaking... New o-ring is in the mail, should be here soon, and i can button the trans back up and get the interior sorted.

I'm looking forward to seeing your console mounted up- I just got mine today, and realized that it was definitely conceived on a Bronco with an electric shift case. I have a manual.... going to have to do some trimming and shift lever modification to be able to get it centered. Looks like you won't be having that problem!

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
I got tired of walking past the Bronco in the shop, lonely, sad, and torn apart. Dug out the solenoid pack connector o-ring i ordered months ago, and put it in. Reinstalled the solenoid pack and trans pan, retorqued everything. Now i just need to get cracking on running speaker wire and build the harness for the amp.
3D scanning for the rear speaker brackets wasn't panning out, the scanning guy is too busy. My fab guy has my radius arms to add brake hardline brackets, and he is modifying the factory brackets to work with the speakers. I also had him add tabs for the tweeters to get those tucked inside the rear panels. Probably going to cost me an arm and a leg, but his work is worth it, and i'm sure i'll appreciate it down the road.

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
Picked up a couple interior goodies; man there have been a lot of cool products released in the 10 years or so since i had my last Bronco... a decade, yikes!
CP Addict billet OE style door handles and wing window latches. Should prevent either from breaking, or getting that weird nasty chalky look.
Solo Motorsports OE tire swingout lock. This should be extra nice while opening the tire swinger on off camber trails, tight parking spots etc.

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
That's kind of a bummer. I think Greg's Bronco is a manual case, and it was conceived on that Bronco, so I guess I just assumed it fit any combination Bronco minus a manual transmission.madmatt1 wrote:I'm looking forward to seeing your console mounted up- I just got mine today, and realized that it was definitely conceived on a Bronco with an electric shift case. I had the trans tunnel bracket modified to mount my stereo amp on. Once i get it back, I'll post some pictures and work on mocking it up. I still need to paint and assemble it all onto my tuffy console.
I think i have chosen my radio, and i have a touchscreen sPod to put on/in it. May need to have my fab guy get creative again with yet another weird little project for my truck.

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
Mostly wrapped up my new speaker wiring and mini 4 channel amp harness. I should be able to run RCA's from the aftermarket head unit directly to the amp, bypassing all of the factory speaker wiring. Hoping for a stronger cleaner sound.
Every connection from the harness pigtail provided by Pioneer to the speaker wire got a solder sleeve, with an extra layer of heat shrink for protection. There should be little to no load on these connections, as the20awg of the main harness will be under the carpet, and the 16awg going from the harness to the speakers with thick insulation will be run to the speaker itself.
The + and - connections on the speakers are all sized, crimped, and shrink wrapped to match
The finished harness came out fairly clean (in my wholly uneducated opinion), and should make install effortless.
I hate electrical, and am happy to spend extra on things like the sPod system to simplify any add-on accessories. I also have mild OCD, so i like it when things are color coded, shrink wrapped etc. If professional wiring services weren't so expensive (for good reason) i would have all of this stuff professionally done. Alas, i'm not building a race-car, so i can't justify the cost. That being said, i'm pretty happy with this, and i am hoping it performs well.

This about sums up my thought, philosphy, feeling and whatever pretty well. What you did looks good and should work great.Becks_Bronco wrote:I hate electrical, and am happy to spend extra on things like the sPod system to simplify any add-on accessories. In retrospect I should have taken the time to solder the spade terminals, but it should work fine as is.

Re: 1996 Eddie Bauer
It is. And yeah, you'll be fine no solder. I always had an internal fight as to where to forcibly stop the OCD from going too far. I'm sure you'll encounter the same internal battle!Becks_Bronco wrote:Thanks man!
