Re: two years and counting
thanks Steve. yeah, i thought about it when i first starting pulling the intake apart, but the tips looked really clean and the little micro filter at the other end looked just as good. i didn't see any deposits at all. could there be built up gunk inside? would an injector cleaner gas additive help? like sea foam or something similar?

Re: two years and counting
been a few months since i've posted the progress on the truck...
first off i found out that the idle issue was due to the throttle position valve. and the sticky throttle was due to tight clearences on the thottle body discs. so i just pulled a complete throttle body off my donor engine and the problems were fixed. pass smog a few days later with flying colors.
since than, i've built up a spare tire holder. this pivots down instead of to the ground. it needs some modifications as it's a bit too high and when it's dropped the tail gate hits the froward brace. i might just bend new tube, or find a way to make the forward link telescoping and allow clearence for the tail gate. a month or two i'll know what i want to do.
material is 1 3/4" .120 wall tubing (they were out of .095) strong as an ox! i went and tested it at ocotillo with no problems. in fact i think it's the only part of teh truck that doesn't move when hauling ass in the washes!
Happy New Year

Re: two years and counting
went to superstition mt this past weekend for some fun. put the go pro on the skid plate and took some footage of the front suspension.
I came to two conclusions after watching the video;
1) 15 psi in the rear tires is too low. (was running 20 psi fwd which felt and looked fine in the video)
2) i'll be buying a set of auto fab motor mounts. watch the oil pan move around during the slow motion sections. scary

Re: two years and counting
yeah it drops right on down and pivots off the outer two legs. i had to put a knuckle in the middle of the center leg to help clear the tailgate. just pull the bolts and she's easy to drop. however, it's heavy to lift.Rmc wrote:Just pull the center leg bolt I mean? Is that the plan?
i don't have any photos at the moment of it down, but i'll throw some on tonight.

Cool. Hey check McMaster Carr, they have all different sizes of pulling gas shocks sold in 50lb increments. If you find the right one lifting should be as easy as a 1 finger operation. They look like screen door cylinders on a house security door. It may make life easy. Looking good man.
