Canidae TT tests new PCI Bluetooth Helmet

Post by PCI Race Radios »

Canidae Racing was kind enough to test out our new Bluetooth Helmet this weekend in Barstow. Add in a few Go Pro's and some amateur editing and here is a cool demo of a REALLY COOL new technology!

For those who haven't seen it yet, we install the bluetooth directly into the helmet. You can go the whole time "unplugged" and use strictly Bluetooth to communicate with your driver, or plug back into the hard wire and the Bluetooth willl automatically shut off. Disconnect from the intercom, Bluetooth automatically turns back on and connects within a fraction of a second. When you are unplugged, the communication is voice activated, just like you are still sitting in the truck. We also install a PTT on the blower fitting, enabling you to talk out on the two-way radio in the car

The Canidae Trophy Truck has a PCI Comlink 10 intercom and the audio was recorded from the audio out on the intercom into the new GO PRO HD HERO 2, now with audio input. (also available at PCI!)

That's awesome. It also would allow you to worry about reconnecting the pumper and radio after moving allowing you to deal with you five point first and keeping the driver updated.

Any chance of building wireless headsets with this technology to have a completely portable intercom setup? This would work great for my retrieval rig with my radio setup as a repeater. When on a call it usually so loud inside/outside I can't hear Weatherman/Ops and then I loose radio when I jump out of the truck to flag or put a truck on the hook.

Jamie and I really could have used this on the Pierce/Nuckles crash this weekend.

I really loved the concept until I see the pricing. It will run $2,000 to set up a pair.

It's definitely something we can do. We currently do not have completely wireless headsets but we do have a box you can plug into and clip onto your jacket, pants etc. This will allow you to be able to transmit on the radio and talk to others in your truck. Wireless headsets will be here soon!

Most race teams will not need a pair. If both the driver and co-driver are out of the race car/truck you have bigger problems.

Wireless headsets would be awesome for the Raptor and the Bronco. I might be in my own world in thinking these would make prerunning/chasing much nicer to have PCI wireless headsets for both driver and CoDog. I can see why in a race truck it would be pointless.

I bet Robby wishes he had this during Dakar with all the in and out of the #303 he was doing!
