NORRA 1000 2014
I just had the best weekend. Good friends, off road racing, good times, good food. What else can a fella ask for. I've got to throw out a big thanks to Ron and Wyatt for keeping me laughing all weekend. Didn't think I could ever laugh so much at some of the dumbest jokes and commentary ever. You guys rock!!
It was truly inspiring to see the excitement in Rick, about to left-seat his first race. There is no more deserving guy than him and I truly hope he gets to see the checkers. It was also great to see Don Moss down there supporting Rick and John's effort. How cool is that? Tom and Bill's Bronco is so clean and so detailed. Absolutely beautiful. It's really unfortunate they had to put it on the trailer today and head home. They were hauling the mail and one of the top finishers after stage 1. Apparently they broke something that was not repairable, but I don't know any details. John and Rick nuked the C6 and are looking for a replacement and or help rebuilding tonight in Loreto. Sure hope they can get it fixed and back in the race to the finish.
Anyway, don't have a lot of words, but lots of cool memories. So, have some pictures!

We stayed at Estero Beach this time. I really like it. Nice rooms, pool, restaurant, bar, beach. Well worth the $$$.

Taylor, thanks for having me along. Drew was a great pilot but you sucked as a navigator.

Yikes, It was great to finally meet you--and a bunch of the GFB guys around the table at Estero Beach!
Thanks for the little update. Knew the unfortunate news about #33, but have been trying to figure out why Rick and John's #15 has been limping along so slowly on the tracker for so long. Fingers, knees, elbows, and toes crossed that they get it repaired and get haulin' in the morning!!
Was just looking through your pictures and had to smile about the dust that you like...because I do too! What is it about Baja dust? Dunno, but it just looks cool. Nice pics! I got some good ones, too, even though I headed back north at San Quintin. See if I can post them here in a bit.
You know what struck me about this race this time? All the smiles. I swear, people just get an extra boost in their smile when they get down there. Maybe that's why they call it The Happiest Race on earth, eh???
See you at the finish?? If not, I'm tossing my hat in the ring for the next HID run. Not sure how, but I'm settin' my sights...too great a group to not hang out with!!
