tcm glx wrote:LMAO!!! Wait a minute Brian, isn't Carmen a m.... and wait, she drives like Tavo to, like she stole it!!! Hahahaha.

I dont take offense to the mexican thing guys, no worries there (well, other than the mexican being lazy theory, that does bother me a bit, but we can save that for another day).

Ok, another thought here, and I am not saying it was safe, endorising it, or anything like that, so keep you superman undies out of the bunghole..........

Those of you that have gone to a race in baja know this is TRUE..........................

If that pit or campsite was a group of locals, they were probably there all day, BBQ'ing, having cold ones (soda I mean of course) and they are not only probably telling him to cut through the pit, they probably saved the tent as the one Tavo ripped up at the 1000 and it will be up on the wall at some shop, garage, or something to that effect like a shrine!!!

Again, not encouraging this by any means.... back to your regular programming
Well said, Tony. My newb freshman status when it comes to Baja is still my handicap in some ways. I've seen enough Baja video to know the locals like to hang real close to the action, some of them suicide close. Forgive me if I seem a little over the top.

Likewise :D I'd never hang crap on the locals down there anyway, it is their country when I am there. Besides, Carmen would beat the crap out of me if I did

yikes wrote:It cracks me up when everyone jumps on the "hang him" bandwagon. When Tavo is going through the camp it is at a very controlled pace. I guarantee he's scanning the area as he goes through and is very aware of the situation. He doesn't let it rip until he throws it right, back onto the course again. The video shows the event from one angle, in poor light and can not be used to hang the guy. As drivers, we make many observations per second and respond accordingly. Off road racers are some of the best drivers in the world when it comes to quick response situations. I don't fault him for what he did there and I'm sure it was much safer than it initially appears. And no, my family wouldn't have been camped that close or on the outside of a turn either.

Oh...and I'm never afraid to be the minority.
I actually don't think the highway repair was all that bad but really just a stupid decision just because of safety. I wouldn't say he should be DQ'd though because he clearly outdrove the competition. Maybe make him start farther back at the next Mil. (Robby Gordon did get DQ'd though for fueling on highway in 2009 though so... )

I'm sure he's talented enough that he saw an opening and threaded the needle between campsites to get back on course but there's no doubt that it could have gone bad had a spectator tried to adjust his light bar at that very moment. You are right though that he didn't open it up until he was back on course. Even the best drivers end up making mistakes at times.. heck, Jesse Jones drove off a cliff into the ocean.

But in all seriousness that looks like a really cool spot to spectate.

Oh man, the shenanigans continue! I hadn't stayed up to date on this. Tavo got nailed, now HE'S crying foul, too. With all this cheating and protesting, they 1000 is going to be like an ongoing soap opera. We might be able to squeeze two or three months of entertainment out of this!

i'm staying over here where it's safe, or at least i hope it is. Now that the race card has been put into play, i have no desire to read anymore of the BS!

Accepted and then Denied...and he ran the same checkpoint BJ did due to lack of signage and being 700ft from where it was supposed to be

At least tavo made an attempt to stop. They should both be penalized. The bikes saw the sign at night, so signage could not have been that bad.
