baja hid excursion!
Sitting here at the border, and I am reflecting. What a bad ass trip.
We drove in rain, fog, mist, day and night......
We drove through washboards, ruts, mud, washouts, silt, dunes, beach, water crossings, whoops and even rockcrawled......
3 broncos, 6 good friends, and over 100 miles in the dirt! This was a good weekend. Pics soon........

Sounds like you guys had a good time Tony - sorry I missed it. Was it Princess, Jessica and the OWL that went? Also who all ended up going?

Re: baja hid excursion!
Thanks Nick.
As Tony said this was truly an epic trip, a short one but a great one at that. For the first time this white bronco has seen dirt since I've owned it I have to say it did pretty well. I wasn't too far off the back from Tony or Vic and felt like it handle like a champ. I did bust the lower portion of the passenger side fenders and the truck needs to have the radiator cleaned out as it's running a little hotter then I'd like but didn't give me any troubles on the trail.
Next Baja trip, The Baja 1000!!!!!!
Chris

Looks like fun! Still so bummed I had to miss it, but am looking forward to being able to sneak out for the 1k!
Chris - I hate to say it (actually I don't) and I know you're gonna want to kill me for it, but the OWL definitely needs a face lift! The 92-96 front end is just SOOOOOOOOOOOO much sexier.
Also I noticed the ATs are back on the OWL. No love for the projects?
And last - did the thermostat trick I told you not help with the temp levels on it???

One more comment about updating the front end will result in a kick to your taint Steve!! LOL. I'm going to tell you to update your 70s truck to an 80s if you don't cut it out. Actually love the way the front looks.ChaseTruck754 wrote:

Projects ran like hell on the street. They were loud and felt squirrely so I didn't want to take a chance on the toll road with those things on. Glad I decided to run the All Terrains because we ran into a little rain as well.
Didn't have time to do the thermostat trick but did put in the overflow canister and it really helped keep it cool. I checked the water often and shut down the engine at the border so Tony could tow me up to the line so I didn't overheat waiting to go through. I will try the thermostat trick this week as it's still running warmer then normal.
SuperBad going to be done by the Mil?

Re: baja hid excursion!
You guys know I am all for "old school" but 80's is not old school to me. Just a generation of crap that should be skipped! Myself included since I was born in '80 - hahahahahaha
*edit* - you snuck that one in on me there Chris.
No way will my 70's get updated to the 80's. I'd stick one of the Perry's 92-96 conversions on the thing before I did that
I know you love that front end and you know I don't - so we can continue to bicker back and forth about it - haha.
SB will not be ready for the Mil, but I've said that from the beginning. On a good note I think I might have FINALLY figured out the spring hangers, so I can at least get her on her wheels again soon!

70s trucks blow except for the non-smog thing.

80-86 is where it's at for an old dog like me. I think they have a classic Ford look. No confusion on what era truck it is.SteveG wrote:No way, man. Don't jump on the bandwagon, Chris. As for the 70's blowing - you are out of your mind!!!!! I'd say they were built stronger than the 80's trucks. The no smog is just a bonus!

Thanks Andy and Steve. I know they aren't everybodies' cup of tea they are definitely mine. I dig the look and boxy style of them so I'll always be a fan.
On a side note, another Bronco maybe coming home with me. A 1986 351 EFI Bronco, lol. I know I know I don't need another Bronco. More details later.
