Fabbed up a quick spare tire mount just so I'd have one out at KOH. I want to build a dual swing out rack later but this fit the need and the timeline.

Broke the steering rod with the bend in it. Murphy's Law also dictated that when the broken parts went tumbling under the truck it would center punch the oil filter and wipe that out. lol

Your bronco looks killer. I'd say 90% of the time, the first trip ends with a broken something. Can I ask what may have caused the break of the tie rod?

I executed the first steering rod poorly, and was pushing the truck pretty hard. About 60-65 MPH through some pretty good bumps. I used 1.5 x.120 wall then sleeved and capped it with 1.75 x .120 with an internal gusset. The internal gusset was not shaped right, and too short, and the tie rod split at the bend where the gusset ended and the "cap" was welded.
The new tie rod is one piece of 1.5 x .250 wall 4130 and I've had no problems.
I have in car video from right before it happened, but I'm not sure how to post it.

Thank you for the info, I built my swing steering, and ran .120 1.5 tubing and was contemplating reinforcing. I will do that.
