Alright, had about an hour or so tonight, and almost wasted it on the couch... I decided to go out and at least do a little...

In the interest of celebrating the small wins.

I got the wiring from the solenoid to the starter run. (Still need a grommet for the pass through)

I also added some 12v and USB power to the console.

Lastly, I got started on the alternator wiring.

Not much to see, but I want to get motivated!

Is the solenoid on the floor?

This is how you eat an elephant... one bite at a time!

I'm glad you mentioned the grommet, I cringed when I first saw the photo but knew you know better.

Yep, solenoid is on the floor under the passenger seat.

I would insulate that solenoid somehow to reduce the chance of a wrench or something shorting it to the seat frame or floor...

Rad to see progress. I'm fighting the same battle of forcing myself in the garage vs. camping out on the couch. It's sad that even though i feel SO good after even 1/2 an hour of doing ANYTHING in the garage, the couch still wins many nights. Crazy how little ones & getting older seem to just make us tired. Seeing someone else taking baby steps but getting something done is motivating for sure. Plus as Brian says the mil being here always lights a bit of a fire as well...

Still working on wiring, so not much to show... I did have some custom heat shrink labels made, but I'll probably change plans mid wiring and need to have new labels made, or abandon the idea all together. Either way I'm pretty excited about how they will look. This is the first one.

Those look cool. Where did you get them?

I had my old employer print them for me. I sent them an Excel BOM with all my terminations and they were able to print right on the heat shrink. There are places on line that will do it too, if you google "custom printed heat shrink" you'll get a bunch on results, I have no experience with them though.

Thanks for the input Erik. I'm thinking I'll stick with my original thought of a label under clear heat shrink for now. That does look a bit nicer, but I'd be a little worried about the printing wearing off if going with an unknown company.

I'll let you know how it holds up in the garage!

Those printed heat shrink labels hold up well. We have been using them on machine tools for years and years.

I would hate to see something "special" that you build. This thing looks good, love the wiring with labels.

Thanks John! It's kind of snowballed from the original "coilbucket, stock drivetrain with a simple cage" plan...I hope to keep plugging along and get it fired this winter!

I like! I love labeled wiring. It's a little more work but makes such a huge difference when you need to work on it. Nice job.

I was missing a drain plug for the trans and a few trivial items, but it's getting dangerously close... I'm posting this to help inspire Steve to get out to the garage tonight!
