Ok, the whole home remodel is kicking my ass but I'm still plugging away at it a little bit at a time! Got the dash all wired.

The etched aluminum labeling turned out pretty well too.

Haha, My grandparents head south for the winter so I'm squatting at their place while my house is under construction!

At least grandpa lets you work on projects in the living room. That doesn't fly with Karen unfortunately...

Thanks guys! I am currently not making great progress as I am trying to wrap up a whole home remodel, but I should be back on it by summer! I am still buying parts and tinkering with wiring in my "free time"

It's ok. I'm on my second house now and my projects not done! I did find myself "rewarding" myself for a job well done on the house, by buying truck parts. If you can't spend time on it spend money.

I really do like this project, though. Looking forward to more free time!

Thanks! As the build progresses, it is slowly turning more prerunner/chase rig than full on race vehicle, although it is still being built to class 3 rules. I love the set up I currently have on the spares, but am considering moving them to the back so I can close up the rear of this thing to lock away gear, tools, and spares. What are everyone's thoughts? Stay committed to the original plan, or roll with the punches?!

Current layout/plan.

Pics are big, but not horrible. They show fine on my screen without any scrolling needed.

I think version 2 looks coo. How easy is it going to be to get to stuff back there with the tire like that though?

It'll be a pain in the ass. I would strap stuff I hope not to use much in there. Spare drive shaft, tie rods, stuff you need when you're going to be stranded for a while and dragging gear out is the least of your worries. Any camping stuff that would only need to get pulled out at the end of the day. I can put the jack behind them as a flat would render it accessible. For prerunning I would naturally run with one spare and the beer cooler in place of the second spare. Maybe two coolers and no spares. I worry less about being stranded in the middle of the desert if the cooler is full.

Why not make a double swing out using d44 hubs with the second design? Could use 2 12v door bolts wired to a button on the to retain them.

Oh and I wish I had your cad program and skills!!

I like the concept of the swing out rack, but I want this thing to be able to take a healthy hit from behind. Thanks for the props on the CAD work.

You could add some stingers to the rear design and then incorporate a swing down assist. Then rear impact would be to worry some.
