Thanks for the compliments! Yeah, I really like the way the spares look. I won't make the 500 with the bronco, there is still too much work to do. I have to get my race motor finished and get it to the dyno is the next step.

I want to get it ready to prerun and chase the 1000, plus have a little testing under the belt. I have a v8 Prolite to build and some Pro-2 suspension, so the bronco unfortunately has to hit the back burner again for a little while.

I'll keep posting pics as I make progress. We will be fabricating our own rear axle housing for the Prolite and I may do a prototype for the bronco first and make sure it works.

I won't have money to run the series ( It cost me about an entry fee in gas just to get to the races from MN.) but I am still building within class 3 rules.

Agreed! Tires out the back look way cool and probably nice to have some weight back there too. Still going to run Class 3 Eric?

Made a little more progress tonight. I have most of the axle housing done minus some internal gussets. I won't weld it thought until I get my fixture completed. I have a bachelor party  this weekend but I am hoping to finish up the design work on it and be back to fabbing by next week. It should be large enough I think and will match my Chrisman hubs well!

Nice housing! What size tubes are those? Are you drilling the center section holes after you weld it up? Had trouble with a similar design with pre-drilled holes moving a bunch after welding.

4" x .250 wall axle tube to match the 3.5" OD Chrisman snouts I have. What kind of fixturing did you use for welding your housing? I have a .500 thick front plate to hold the front face of the axle housing, which will have the studs pressed in before welding. I am hoping this will keep things where they belong. Then a couple fabricated sleeves to hold the axle tubes. That is the plan for now. Here is a partially complete pic of the fixture.

The 3.5" x 3/8" axle tubes were fixed in saddles, and a standard center section was bolted to the front plate. It was impossible to get the bolts back in once they were pulled out, and we had to enlarge and egg out the holes in the center sections to get them to fit. We're still using GN snouts and hubs.

Hmm, thanks for the heads up. Maybe I will go to something smaller like a 1/4-20 to fixture, then come back and drill it out to the actual size using another template when I have it fully welded.

I have another bachelor party this weekend, but I snapped a couple quick crappy cell phone pics of the fixture. It still needs a bit more welding, but seems to be very very solid.

I went to 1/4 bolts to hold in the center section, and have a template to drill to the correct size when the axle is finish welded. Thanks for the heads up Moss.

I won't run out of single friends? Or I still won't get the truck done when it happens? I have another pro-lite, and a trail bronco that is also slowing up my progress. You know, sort of like your alfa and your garden!

Her garden - but yeah pretty much. And it's actually the bronco that is holding me up now. I'm taking my time butchering the thing and it's killing me.

Ha! Thanks! Don't quit though! These projects take long enough as it is without quitting... I hope to have some more progress to post at the end of this month. Right now I am working on getting some other projects on the road/racetrack.

I did put air in the tires tonight if that counts as progress...

A little bit. I have been working on my aluminum top idea a little bit more, but no pics for now. I also am almost done welding up my rear axle housing. I have been working to finish the motor swap in my little bronco. I am also building a shed to get all the gardening/lawn crap out of my garage so I have more room to work this winter.

Solidworks storage shed FTW!
