Tacked in engine cage. There will be a bar across the two tubes, bolted for engine removal. Suspension mounts will come soon...

Its like, almost a truck!

Front end is going together for good, roof is tacked up, box is just on so we can get an idea on where to go with fuel cell, new crossmembers, etc.

Image

Meanwhile, at the Formula 4x4 garage, we now have a freshly re-built Dana 20 T-case & installed. Shiny.

I am going to guess that is the hood sitting on top of the "roof". Standard place to rest that small farm sized piece of sheet metal......

Race season is coming up!

Its really starting to look like a truck now. Tonight we installed the rock shield, got drivers side door on, and halfway finished our radiator mount. The rad is out of a 90's F150.

Here's a bunch of random pics we took tonight. One thing I wish I could change is the top engine crossbar. Engine cage isnt done yet. Still need install the new coils to get correct ride height, so we can do shock mounts and a bar to the top of the coil bucket.

The box is super toasty. Its deff a one season box. If you guys are wondering, thats real rust...

This is my right hand man, Trevor LaCombe. Without him, this truck wouldnt exist. Mad fab skills on this kid.

My office for the summer. Needless to say, im a little nervous.

Update!

Bronco runs! sounds real nice, once we diagnosed some fuel & starter issues. She is loud.
Here's a kind-of-proof pic. Video to come soon.

Image

Moved the stock truck to the Formula garage in town. Got floors cut out, boxing the frame, and Stemmy, our team body man got right on the body work.

Image
Image
Image

Started rebuilding the front end with new bushings, king pins, etc. King pins gave us some hell today.

Image

Got my quickner today (Thanks Eshall!) so hopefully gonna start getting my cockpit all set up, along with steering, and possibly starting this weekend.

Figured some of you might appreciate this picture. Here's what the yard currently looks like...

Image

The bronco and long box are both 79's, bronco is on 1 tons and runs a built 400 with that fancy water/methanol stuff, and the long box (Stay Around Brown) has a mild build 460 on Dana 60's. Those are the rig's of the formula driver.

Thank you!

Flanged down tubes done (for the most part)

Image

Quickner set up and steering done.

Image

Engine cage bucket tubes. Currently working on shock hoops/mounts

Image

Some radius arm fab. Took the old wonked out stud out, and replaced it with this bolt. Air arced the old one out so this fit in nicely.

Image

Race is in about 18 days...

Added another interesting ride to the driveway collection...

Image

My buddy has had his ranger for awhile, and has been collecting parts for a budget built prerunner, but hasnt had the time, so it's been sitting for awhile. I finally broke down and gave Trevor the guy's number, and we went and picked her up.
The ranger is said to be built somewhat in california, so maybe someone recognizes it?

Image

Yeah, typical ranger, but here's the cool part about it...

Image

302/C4 combo. Motor is built a little bit. Truck also has bent beams already in it. Came with a disc brake 8.8, chevy 64's, ext. shackles, 6 race cut tires on powder coated wheels, suspension seats, a fuel cell, and 4" coils. He got her for a steal.

Tested the Bronco yesterday. Everything went great. Bumping up a heat range in plugs, and we should be screaming for Crandon. I put my stock truck on hold till the Antigo race, just so we can concentrate on getting one rig up and ready. Makes things a little less stressful for our first race. Pics to come in a bit.
