Rick's bronco rides really nice on coils - just sayin... That being said I know the coilover desire is hard to fight off. And yes, the cost of aftermarket buckets and nice 2.5's are in the range of the cost of coilovers...

Yep, you hit the nail right on the head. Plenty of proven trucks running coils. Look at John's '75 spare parts truck...still on coils and he drives the piss out of that thing. To make things even more interesting, I've been offered a really sweet deal on a new set of Autofab adjustable coil buckets....

I'm in the same boat as you. Is the plus to the new buckets is the spring adjustability or longer shocks or is it a combo of both?

Combo of both. I really just wanted them since they allow for a longer stroke/larger diameter shock, but the coil adjustability is just an added bonus.

Lol Jim, you have a point. Sensible and building off-road trucks doesn't exactly mix.

my $.02.

This truck is stupid clean. Once you add coilovers the bug starts building to add width, add glass, add tire. etc etc.

An Autofab adjustable bucket and coils with a 2.5" smoothie or IBP kinda keeps the snowball in check to an extent. Keeps it comfortable and capable while maintaining the amazing OEM+ look you have on this truck.

Buy a beat up bull nose to stuff an LS into with glass and coilovers, cage it, spray the entire interior with linex and beat the piss out of it.

Yep, kinda exactly where I'm leaning Will. OEM+ is a great term for this build, and yeah, I do believe that the coil buckets definitely keep that theme going, but add capability. If I could get this thing in the 13-14" travel range front and rear, I think it would be plenty capable for the occasional dirt trip but still with good street manners.

I finally got around to getting the skidplate down to the polisher to have it cleaned up and then just for giggles, had him throw a brushed finish on there. Pretty psyched with how it came out.

Well, just when I said I was gonna keep this build old school, I went and threw this stereo in that's completely not old school....but damn I love this thing. Pretty cool to have a 9" touchscreen with a backup cam and CarPlay in a 23 year old truck.

And then, just because I washed her yesterday afternoon and the lighting was nice, I snapped a couple pics. I'm working on replacing those rear door windows to get rid of the mirrored factory privacy glass. That's all I can see in these pics.

Haha, thank you sir! I've had friends lovingly refer to it as "tweakin on the weekend". I certainly have a tendency to get wrapped up in a lot of silly little details, but I guess it keeps me entertained.

Love seeing the progress on this...

Is that the F259 or the F309 head unit? I was just seeing that the F309 can be expanded to control any accessories (with an extra adapter) which looks pretty slick!!

This is the F259. My understanding is that the main difference is that the F309 has HDMI inputs, which opens it up to a lot more stuff. The other one that I just learned about is that you can't customize the opening splash screen on the F259 which kinda bummed me out. I really wanted to run that Ford Performance background as the startup screen on this one but can't. I may end up going to the F309 down the road.

Understood. I put the W650 in my Ram and was pretty bummed by the splash screen as well. Everything else about it is great though!

The price difference between the F259 and the F309 is pretty steep, but could be justified when you start looking at nice switch panels.

Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for this truck!!
