Bray's '99 F250 Super Duty

Post by DMbronco »

I've been on a lookout for something that I can tow my Bronco with, and also carry a pop up camper to make things a little more civilized on trips...

Came across a super clean '99 with only 147k miles. Original owner had her for 17 years.

7.3l Powerstroke, bone stock motor and a fresh rebuild on the 4r100.
Had some goodies; full Deaver leaf pack up front, 6.0l trans cooler, 37's..

Day I brought her home:

These were a little scary; holy blocks batman!

A trip to ICON was in order for 5" Deaver springs...

Pretty sure I've got a phobia about putting pretty parts on less than pretty components, so I went full OCD and spent a weekend on my back and knees, degreasing, sanding, prepping, priming and painting the undercarriage, frame, axles, and wheelwells...

Went through maintenance items; flushed cooling system, oil change with synthetic, air and fuel filters, brakes all around.

Had to square away a pass side door actuator, a driver's side doorlock, and some shifting linkage.

Josh set me up with an Automind 2 Programmer, which allowed me to account for the larger tires and really woke this thing up.

The more I looked at it, the more I wanted to tone the look down, so I decided new shoes would help.

I went with the old school polished AR Bajas and went to work sealing them with Sharkhide to keep em tidy.

Taylor hooked me up with an extra 37 so I ordered an extra Baja and now have a fullsize spare.

Plans include a rear bumper with a tire carrier, something like this.

In fact, this rig is along the lines of where I hope to go with it...

Thanks Steve! Unicorn for sure- but seems like clean low miles excursions are an ever tougher find- good luck man!

First one I can recall seeing in 4x4 flavor- love the short wheelbase- u turns are actually an option in this thing!

Pops still has the Capsule on the front of his tow trailer- so it will be available for weekends where I can only jam out for a night or two in the bronco.

This will give me a little more room to relax for longer runs, and allow us a plus one for those I am trying to brainwash into the offroad hobby lol...

Gracias! I ran a carfax and first check in was June of 99 at 6k miles- not sure if this means it's an early model 99 or not.

Would welcome info as to the differences between the early and later 99s- I seem to recall one was cat free and possibly difference with the blocks on the 7.3l; thanks in advance for any
details...

re: the blocks, thankfully they were out back haha... man, what a difference those deavers made back there..
