The Orca: 2012 Ford Raptor Black Supercrew Build
The Orca: 2012 Ford Raptor Black Supercrew Build
I picked this truck up just over a month ago and figured it's time I threw up a build thread. The previous owner did a great job on the build of this truck, and so far I've just done a little fine tuning and personalizing.
The truck got its nickname from a buddy that saw it not long after I picked the truck up when it still had unpainted white fiberglass fenders and said it looked like a killer whale.

Finally some pics lol! Looking good! Did you go back to stock fenders on it, or did someone somehow paint the fiberglass ones to match that well??

I'll post pics of the reinstall, but I was able to luck into a set of OEM fenders from a dude on Craigslist in Dana Point and they were already in the same Tuxedo Black color, and the guy even threw in the OEM fender liners as well!ChaseTruck754 wrote:Finally some pics lol! I actually ended up liking the bronze Method Con6's more than I thought I would, but I've always wanted a set of the Method Grids in the Titanium color, so I figured I'd give those a go:
I managed to snap a couple suspension shots while the tire shop was working on the truck:
Then I got rid of the orange side mirror reflectors:

Next up was a bunch of little projects. The first was to get a proper rear facing amber dust light installed. The SDHQ mounting bracket is great. Such an easy thing to install.
Then I installed some Hella Sharptone horns.
I wasn't a big fan of the yellow on the horn grilles, so I shot them with Duplicolor dark shadow gray paint that I'd bought to paint my rear tailgate emblem bezel, but more on that later.
I was pretty happy with how the horn grilles turned out, so decided to tackle the tailgate emblem bezel next.
I snagged a billet badge to go on there, but need to snap a pic of that to show the finished product.

Such a nice rig!! I love the dark grey wheel swap!
95 Part Deux. Starting from scratch.
Re: The Orca: 2012 Ford Raptor Black Supercrew Build
Next up was swapping out my SVC Baja Smurf front bumper for one without a light kicker bar off the front for a more streamlined look. I can't say enough good things about Jeff @ SVC and his customer service. I'll definitely be back there for more goodies in the near future!
Then I got around to installing my SDHQ A-pillar light mounts and a pair of Squadron Pros that I hung on to from my white OBS F-150.
And then my flush center caps from Chief Machining came in, so I got those installed.

Next up it was time to swap out the Corsa exhaust with resonator delete for something a bit mellower sounding. I decided to add back the stock resonator, and then go with a black coated Magnaflow system. I'm really pleased with the mellow sound, and the looks of the system.
Then it was time to take this thing for its maiden voyage in the dirt (or at least its maiden voyage in the dirt with me behind the wheel). I headed up to Barstow to catch the first MORE race of the season. Since I was coming from a full long travel I-beam F-150, I had to remind myself that I was now driving a truck with 30% less wheel travel, and 100% more horsepower. Overall the truck did great though and it was a fun first trip out.
And the aftermath:

Nice!

Thanks Nick!
I've been on a mission to get rid of the blue accents from inside the cab, and since the tailgate emblem surround came out so nice, I decided to pull a few interior pieces and paint them rather than shell out for the silver replacements.
The before shot:
Dash all taken apart:
The pieces being painted:
Reassembly:
And back in the truck:

Been doing a few small projects, first up was replacing the hex head bolts on my skid plate with countersunk Allen hardware:
And then I sent my console lid and gauge cluster cover off to raptor custom embroidery to be upholstered with leather:
I also decided to delete the midget stripper pole so that I can get the Tailgate Linexed:
And then finally, I decided to pull off the graphics in anticipation of getting the truck paint corrected and ceramic coated:

You in the Encinitas area? I recognize that Evan's Tire ... I have your truck's twin in 2013 flavor and am right up the road in Carlsbad.nubreed71 wrote:I finally got around to ordering up a set of HID retrofit headlights from Tony, these things are killer!
