The parts bill for the bronco was always $1000 and up.....so the one thing I have truly enjoyed about the SxS is how much less expensive and how capable they are. A few of us hit Mexico before COVID and preñan the San Felipe race course....averaged 35 mph (faster for sure than I could have averaged in the bronco through that stuff) through out the day with nothing more than a flat. About 250 miles logged over the weekend. Came back, rinsed it off, tossed a new belt on the clutch and she was ready to go do it again.

The downside, not street legal and having to trailer everywhere..... 100 percent accurate. Sucks in the states. (Not in AZ or Utah, but definitely sucks in Cali) and of course in Mexico not so much of a big deal.
I took my truck out Friday with the new front end and was stoked on how well it did, wondered how it will do when king finishes my 3.0s and I can do a bed cage, and then immediately got out performed by a bunch of stock RZRs and Can Ams and finally wondered how nice it would be to just make the payment and drive something purpose built to take a beating and not have to stress

That was me at KOH 3 yrs ago when Vic bought his Rzr.......I saw him running through the big whoops and was Like WHHATTTTT THEEE FUUUUUUUUU.

thanks Tony, at this point in the season, i will probably drive the truck as is, MAYBE get the bed cage done if Mikey from FabLab can squeeze it in, and then field some offers on it in the spring. I would like to do mohave trail this season, and possibly take the northern powerline road to vegas (well buffalo bills parking lot in primm is where it end) to the Mint 400 this year.

a couple little detail projects here and there lately, ran the rugged radios obs/bronco antenna since i dont care about am/fm radio, mounted my race radio in the cab, and started installing my new steering wheel QD and hub

i ended up buying a 90s momo wheel to give it that old school feel. if i dont like it i may take you up on that in the future though

Truck looks great! I just can’t get behind a side x side yet. Those Enduro’s have always been one of my favorite wheels.

thanks man! wish i could have bought more of them honestly i love these wheels always have. KMC stopped making them and apparently i got the last ones

nothing super new with the truck, got the race radio wired up and working for the most part, thing kills my battery if i dont drive the truck which is annoying, not really sure how to go about avoiding that, if its even possible (im ignorant when it comes to radios but seems like you dont want to do anything but wire it straight to the battery.

Still been driving the truck fairly often

Got a free stabbin cabin from my buddy Jessie

I've honestly missed having the lockable storage and regret selling the one i had on the truck a couple years back. This is a 95' vintage stockland that came off of the previous owners Lightning, then Jessies single cab work truck, and now my truck. No carpet inside this thing which is preferable actually since I can just hose everything down still. It needs some new locks and lift gate shocks.

Guys running shells: Any tips or tricks for getting this thing to live while prerunning? do I hard mount it, use the standard clamps everyone else uses on their shells? make some kind of bushing setup? The only other dude I know running a shell personally has steel plates tied into the cage holding the shell down, and its lived just fine for YEARs, its got as many dirt miles in baja as anything else down there.

There shouldn't be any draw from the radio while the truck is off so that's kind of weird. It's a kind of rigged way to "fix" it, but if the wiring is semi accessible you can install an inline fuse in an inconspicuous spot and remove it when not using the radio and just put the fuse in when you need the radio. It'll kill any draw the radio has when it's out. Chances are you should already have a fuse in the power wire somewhere on the radio and if the fuse is easy enough to get to you can just pull that when not in use.

I've never run a shell on a truck that got used hard, but those I've talked to who have said that the constant flexing they see as the truck moves (non cages trucks) causes cracking over time. The one guy I know with a shell that lived on a well used truck (Tom - BajaF250) also tied the shell pretty rigidly to the cage if I recall.

My shell is through bolted on the bed rails. It has cracks in the upper corners of the shell. I think we’re gonna try and tie the shell into the cage/roof rack.

Rear end started clicking and clacking so I figured it was time for a rebuild, went ahead and stepped up to 35 splines, opted for a true trac instead of a Detroit this time, and added a wilwood dynalite kit
